This applies specifically to Jaywick, Essex. It doesn't apply to the whole of Essex. I lived in Colchester, Essex for a few years, and it certainly isn't deprived. Essex is a lovely place to live for people who like a coastal life close to the beach, but Jaywick specifically is a notorious slum populated mainly by inbreeders and drug misusers.

Saw pictures of these shanties on EuroNews one day where they scrutinized Spain to have the highest concentration of slums in the whole of Europe. Damn it was appalling.
