Pastors of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Nigeria have started enforcing the dress code for all worshipers handed down by the General Overseer of the Church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye. The GO, as Adeboye is called by the teeming worshipers, had announced recently that women must not wear gold trinkets, artificial hair and trousers and short skirts to church.


He also banned women and men from colouring or bleaching their hair when they are coming to church. P.M.NEWS gathered that pastors in the various parishes of the church have started implementing the strict dress code, starting with the church workers.

A member of the church who is also a senior worker in one of the parishes confirmed that the pastors are enforcing the ban among the church workers. The church worker, who pleaded for anonymity, said the pastors started with the church workers because they are directly supervising the workers.

He said the pastors cannot force the larger congregation to abide by the new dress code because worshippers, especially first timers, voluntarily went there to worship. According to him, “new worshippers who unknowingly flout the dress code will definitely change by the time they listen to what the pastor preaches from the pulpit. Changing their mode of dressing is a gradual process.”

The strict dress code has been criticised in some quarters and described as too conservative, considering the fact that in some Pentecostal churches, female members are allowed to wear trousers and artificial hair to church. In those churches, women and even men bleach their hair while while some men also wear earing in one of thier ears.

In chris Okotie’s Household of God, Chris Oyakhilome’s Christ Embassy, and in Paul Adefrasin’s House on The Rock Church, it is fashionable for women to wear trousers and short skirts to church. It is this freedom to wear anything that makes these churches the place to be for youths on Sundays.

Let the membership level drop. God's standard has not changed. It is better to take a true worshipers to heaven than to multitude to hell.

Pls i need someone to explain this trouser thing to me. God or the bible said a woman should nt put on what belongs to a man. But the way we are taking it is too far.
1. the female hv their own trouser which is sewn with the woman in mind. Ie it is more hippy and a smaller waist line.
2. Just as we hv men suit, women hv theirs.
3. is it shirt, men button is on the left while that of the ladies is on the right.
so i think wearing of trousers should not be the issue bt tight trouser, skirts, mini, long slits etc.
Pls someone should correct me if am wrong.

I will advice him to always preach what the bible say and enforcing it on the congregation. Remember that the bible say thou shall not judge.

See guys, I am very surprised and bitter at the way we type, act and talk. I am not a member of RCCG but Haba, Someone is talking about church funds and Tithe, Offering and Church monies, our children watch rubbish on TV and Still no comfort in what is presented as the Christians don't have enough funds (in billions) to fight the Devil and the little that is brought for God's work we find a way to rubbish the Men of God that are put to make this work easy and faster. People put so much money into production of Stupid, senseless, devilish music and Movies and we watch and hail them, we complain TV is this Media is corrupting our children minds but bring money to propagate the gospel, we complain because we are too poor in spirit to be used by God. A lot of people die each day and we spend our money on Devilish non-sense, all in the name of being in vogue. Pls if anyone has nothing positive to say about anybodies work rather than talk about the car he drives and the cloths he wears then they should shut their mouths up. If a car is bought and given to a political party leader no one will talk, but once a Man of God is given a car then he is a thief. Are men of God suppose to beg for food, are they suppose to walk or drive sub standard and old cars, are they not suppose to partake in the Goodness we all go to seek from God. Haba, Nigeria I hail thee. We should grow up and go look for something positive to do with out time instead of calculating the offering you give at church. Nonsense. Who wants to know whether members refuse to come to Church are they there to send people to hell. What will happen if they cover their bodies, awe keep talking nonsense.

I think about the health ramifications of not bleacing or colouring your skin or hair --- makes sense. Keep the chemical away and save yourself from cancer.
