So apparently Odion Ighalo is not happy playing as a lone striker in Nigeria’s coach Gernot Rohr’s 3-2-3-1 formation

After the defeat of Nigeria by Coratia, Ighalo has taken lots of crticism for his low performance during the football star fears he could be made a scapegoat for the team’s failure in Russia.

It was gathered that Ighalo had previously complained after struggling to impress playing as a lone striker in the 1-0 defeat to Czech Republic in a pre-World friendly in Austria.

It was learnt that Rohr believes his strength and poaching skills would benefit the team by opening up holes for Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi to exploit – and was not ready to listen to any complaints from a player who made his name playing the position most times at Watford.

After the Kaliningrad encounter, Ighalo, who clocked 29 on Saturday, said he was disappointed with the outcome of the Croatia fixture.

He said they didn’t create many quality chances, apparently blaming that for his poor performance in the match.

The former Udinese player said the Eagles should accept the defeat is part of sport.

He said, “I did my best be we didn’t create enough chances,” the former Flying Eagles captain said.

“We must work on our weaknesses ahead of the next match.”

Ighalo added, “It’s difficult to play as a lone striker but the coach decides how we play. We have to decide the pattern we play (in subsequent matches).”

What should have been an advantage for you is now a disadvantage..it's well oooo

Ighalo is Retiree like Mikel. China based football pensioners. No zeal nor hunger at all.

If Nigeria must use a loan striker formation, then he must ensure he has a very fast and mobile 10 who should be ready to link up with the striker at every chance. But instead we have a very static, immobile and negative Mikel Obi playing our 10. Why wont ighalo be cut off by opponents?
A 10 is like Eden Hazard, Okocha who runs into defences and create opening in 18yard boxes for the striker to finish. Mikel doesnt do that, hence killing the link up of play.
If they must play Mikel, let him play 4, helping the defence. Let iwobi or iheanacho do that support role to ighalo and see the difference.

Stop that rubbish there.....why not fall back into the midfield and assist the boys there then?
