The Egyptian keeper Mohamed El-Shenawy refused his man-of-the-match award against Uruguay because of his faith.

The MOTM award was sponsored by Budweiser which is an alcoholic beverage maker and due to Muslims practise of not taking alcohol, he rejected the award.

El-Shenawy was phenomenal, keeping out Uruguay and even though he was eventually breached, he was responsible for keeping Egypt’s hopes alive.

Egypt aren’t out of it yet with Russia and Saudi Arabia still to play and with news that Mohamed Salah will be fully fit for those games, the Egyptians will feel galvanised to fight till the end.

The award which is shaped like a red goblet clearly connotes what it is representing and El-Shenawy wanted no part of it, rejecting the award when it was presented to him.

Budweiser is one of the main sponsors for the 2018 World Cup in Russia having signed a deal with FIFA as the official alcohol supplier to the tournament.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper is the shot-stopper for Al-Ahly of Egypt and his stock has risen after that first game with many recognising his goalkeeping talent and it’ll be interesting to see what happens if he keeps this up during the competition. There could even be a European move on the cards

Making decisions to stand firmly on what Allah and His Noble Prophet had stipulated seemed another line of story in the minds of other people but the success of every Muslim lies in this. Allahu'musta'an.

He refused to collect an award presented to him by Budweiser - an alcoholic beverage producing company.
Why on earth is he and his th Egyptian team then competing in the same tournament sponsored by the same alcoholic beverage producing company?

Yesterday, I read on the news how the Hisbah police in Zamfara state arrested males and females who were celebrating sallah tohether and were not married. And also the destruction of brothels, hotels and beer joints by the Borno state government some weeks back.
Where does the funding of the Hisbah police come from? State allocation!!! Gathered from proceed of the sale of crude oil and taxes paid by private and multinationals including hotels, brothels, alcohol producing coys and so on.

THAT IS HYPOCRISY!!!!

Every man is entitled to his belief.

I don't know why Christian fanatics won't understand that.

He simply refused to accept it and hasn't criticized others for accepting. Neither has he compelled others not to accept.

Why is this paining our Christian brothers so much?
