1. Do you know that Germany is the only country that has won the world cup on its first appearance at the final and without it been the host country. (Switzerland 1954: Germany 3-2 Hungary)

2. Do you also know that Germany has appeared in more final than any other nation

Germany - 7 finals (won 3 times)
Brazil - 6 finals (won 5 times)
Italy - 6 finals (won 4 times)

Of the 18 finals these three teams have won it 12 times (66%), while only seven teams have ever lifted the trophy.

3. Only Brazil and Italy have lifted the world cup back to back.

Italy (1934 and 1938)

4. Of the 18 world cup played, only One country (Brasil) has won it outside it's continent. That makes the 2010 edition all the more interesting
