Yesterday while signing the budget the President claimed N 2 billion was required to complete the project and that was cut by the National Assembly.

However fact check shows that the President may have been misled on that

In April the Minister of state for aviation visited the governor of Enugu and informed him that the sum of N1. 7 billion had already been paid to the contractors and the amount left to finish the project was 300 million.

In this situation the National Assembly was right to save us from budget padders in the executive by leaving only 500 million for the completion of that project because if only 300 million is remaining to finish the project as stated by the Minister in April why were they budgeting another 2 billion?

1.7 billion and 300 million is 2 billion, meaning 2 billion has already been spent on the project hence if it was put in the budget again somebody somewhere will just steal it in the executive.
How can they be budgeting for something already paid for?

The President should do a fact check when next he wants to emotionally blackmail the National Assembly and set them up for Nigerians to Lynch. On this issue he misfired

The artice proves the airport wasnt neglected by NASS.
Nigeria opened an airport that can land aircrafts at night. That's revenue they're foregoing.

At the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, flights cannot operate in the night because the airport does not have approach light, which ought to be installed at the two ends of the runway. The airport also does not have enough water supply, which means that it may not service large body aircraft because it does not have adequate fire cover, as certain volumes of water are needed for the fire hydrants in case of emergency.
THISDAY learnt during the visit that the planned installation of approach light at one end of the runway had been frustrated by the host community who insisted that compensation must be paid to them before the land could be ceded to FAAN.

Ekweremadu and other igbo senators are the reason why any work was started and is even being talked about now. Kudos also to Peter Obi and Stella odua. The wish of the north and west is to kill the airport.

Why did they even add the 200 million naira extra??

They would have made us proud by giving that project just the remaining 300million.

Well, this is Nigeria.

One just doesn't know what to believe with these people!

I think they rushed to mention AIIA Enugu just to make it look like they actually love Igbos and are treating us on an equal basis with other ethnicities/regions/zones, but that the national assembly is preventing them from showering us with projects and other goodies! They told us to blame Igbo senators for not stopping the reduction of the budget for AIIA (giving poor Ekweremadu special mention shocked)....basically implying that but for the senate, AIIA Enugu would be done up to look like Heathrow-T5!

Respect for the proverb that says one should not be judgemental unless the two sides was heard

Some people are happy with the division everywhere, they are enriching themselves undecided

Does Buhari really know what is going on around him I mean he prepares this budget annually undecided

How could you spend N1.7B remaining N300M, they gave you extra N200M and you are still complaining

Is he trying to pinch the Igbos against the National Assembly or is this a clear case of Amnesia shocked shocked shocked

Paying for something already paid for is corruption, Mr President.

you ought to fear this government, no Penny was released for east-west road since 2015 but for ameachi to come out and claim that the project is 67% completion and credit should be given to this government,if I lie then ask Usani(minister of niger-delta)lie lie government.

Where is omenkalives? Don't avoid this thread. You were running your mouth on the other thread blaming the south east senators for the reduction. Come and defend this one.

As for the airport, buhari just wants to stop it being an international airport. Na for south east e dey na.
