Largest ever Commercial Paper issuance by a Nigerian company…

Dangote Cement PLC (DANGCEM-NL) (DangoteCement.com), Africa’s largest cement producer, announces the issuance of 50 billion Series 1 and 2 Notes under its 150 billion Commercial Paper Programme, announced on 27th June 2018.



The Series 1 and 2 Notes will be listed on Nigeria’s FMDQ OTC Securities Exchange on 19th July 2018. Funds raised in the Commercial Paper (CP) Programme will be used for capital expenditure, working capital, and general corporate purposes.

This landmark transaction is the largest-ever Commercial Paper issuance by a corporate issuer in Nigeria

Joe Makoju, Group Chief Executive Officer, said:

“This landmark transaction is the largest-ever Commercial Paper issuance by a corporate issuer in Nigeria. It allows us to broaden our sources of funding and combine established bank lines of credit with access to capital market funding, which will lower our overall cost of borrowing.

The success of this programme reflects the high quality of our business and its strong cash generation, made possible by our market-leading positions in Nigeria and across Sub-Saharan Africa, where demand for cement is growing rapidly.”

Dangote Cement was advised by Stanbic IBTC Capital Limited as Sole Arranger and Dealer, Stanbic IBTC Bank PLC as Issuing Calculation and Paying Agent, Banwo & Ighodalo as Legal Counsel and Deloitte as Auditors to the Issuer.

After MTN IPO, now its Dangote issuing coupons. These corporations decided to launch their offers now because they know politicians have excess money to throw around prior to the elections, and much more to hide.

You guys don't know how such big business works. As rich as Bill Gates is, his company and also Amazon are still on stock exchange market also. Even though they are rich enough to fund whatever new product they want they will still put it on stock exchange market so that they can raise money and thereby give the public chance to own part of their companies so you can have say in the company. And whatever is going the wrong way in the company you can always air your mind and the company declares how they have been faring and thereby declare dividend to you for the amount of money you have put into their business. That is your own profit. D rich men still take loan from the bank. But silly poor men won't and use up all his money lol.

When Dangote wants to commence his Refinery Project, he still takes up loan from his partners even though he is a Billionaire in US Dollars I.e. money and assets. I guess reason why most rich folks do this is business sense. Big money business transactions of that magnitude should not be done with all your billions due to risk involve, what if things don't go as planned when the refinery begins operations. So most rich men involves banks and other partners. I guess that's what Dangote does. And to me na wisdom.
