A 4.50-upwards CGPA most definitely implies that the holder never had a Carry-Over.
A single Carry-Over especially in a course with heavy credit units could make 1st-Class virtually impossible.

It is possible, avoid choosing elective courses taken by lecturers who seek your downfall and set a C grade as ur minimum grade by studying very hard. Don't see any course as too difficult, start reading and working hard as the semester begins little by little.

Such Question should be directed to other students with the exclusion of the MEDICAL STUDENTS, however since u didn’t exclude them I will respond to it.

Most of the medical Doctors u see never had any CARRY OVER as students, in fact, the score 49.9999 means Failure in medical school while 50 is a BIG SCORE, and mind you no carry over.
U must sort out yourself before progressing to the next level.

Explain that bolded.

And also explain that 50% if you are talking in Nigerian education context. Because in a major Western country I have experience of, 50% is pass mark alright. But not literal 50%.

It is the weighted average percentage. If the literal pass mark is set at 92% or 87%, that figure becomes 50%. A formula is used to compute it.

It is so because a doctor who gets only 50% of things right is a disaster to unleash on the population in deed!

I never had any carryover for a 5 year course. Attend classes, do assignments, do practicals, write all tests and quiz, read and write your exams. Finally pray against missing script as that is not under your control. I had 3 E's and 1 D through out my stay in school. Continually think about good grades and you will surely make it. I made a comfortable 2:1 and it was worth it. Please always submit your assignment by yourself. Don't give anyone to submit for you no matter how close you are.

Nobody remembers everything taught in school but when you have forgotten MOST, then it's a serious challenge.

I went through university without a single carry over. Very doable, I see no reason why a student should even fail a course unless in the situation where the lecturer intentionally fails them.

Yes, you can. I studied one of the Engineering courses, I never had any carryover, but sickness one finish me during exam time. I still graduated with 2.1
