Good guys are boring. Why aren't there more titles where we get to slay endless waves of the good guys?

Why don't I get to crush Dante's head between my fists and use his cape to wipe up the mess? Sure, we've had 'morally ambiguous' characters in video games. Yes, there are titles where you're given the option to play as evil, but why not just straight up evil? We need more titles celebrating the purely unhinged dark side of the human, and super-human, condition.

Certain villains in recent gaming history certainly left their mark on gamers and left us wondering why there isn't a solo game from their perspective.

The protagonists in video games always rise to victory, and even anti-heroes get their moments to be a badass for good causes.

The one underserved market in video games, especially in series, is where the villain's point of view is fully seen and respected. So with tons of iconic video game villains, which deserve their own path on the way to victory with gamers at the helm?

Liquid Snake - Metal Gear Solid

The well-spoken Snake variant with the inferiority complex always seemed like a bit of a dick, so it's reasonable to ask the question, 'Why the hell would I want to play as him?' Well, first of all, he kicks ass in much the same way that Solid does - on a physical level, he's more or less exactly the same person, so automatically lends himself to a stealthy action-adventure in a similar style to MGS. If you've played Metal Gear Solid V, you'll also know that as a 12-year-old boy, Liquid escaped into the African wilderness and became the leader of a community of child soldiers. Admittedly, video games are probably not ready yet to depict children engaging in deadly gun battles, but you can't deny that the story of Eli escaping in Africa and gaining enough respect and notoriety as a child to become the leader of his own Lord of the Flies-style tribe would be fascinating.

Such a game could then skip over his time as leader of the tribe - when presumably his child-army did terrible things that are best left un-shown - and the events of Metal Gear Solid V. We'd skip straight to his adulthood, when he worked as part of the Secret Service in the Middle East, joined FOXHOUND with Psycho Mantis and Revolver Ocelot, and built up a private army that would eventually take over Shadow Moses Island and hijack Metal Gear Rex (the events of the original Metal Gear Solid).

There's plenty of story to be told, though Konami would have to tone down on Liquid's Etonian snootiness to make him a bit more likeable.

Captain Le Chuck - Monkey Island

If you were to pick one character responsible for making the Monkey Island series great, you'd have to go with LeChuck.

Sure, the gawky Guybrush has some good lines, but LeChuck is just a joyous bundle of colourful, villainous energy who always steals the scene when he appears. So how about an adventure game in which you get to sail the seven seas with LeChuck aboard his ghost ship, or even looking at his life leading up to his death - when he set out on that fateful exhibition to Monkey Island in a bid to impress Elaine Marley, but died on the way.

The gameplay would need to be an evolution on the outdated point-and-click formula of the old Monkey Island games. The focus would still be on witty dialogue and some puzzle-solving, but if there's one good thing that we learned from Assassin's Creed in recent years, it's that recruiting a pirate crew and having sea battles is really fun, so any hypothetical 'Adventures of LeChuck' game would need to have some of that.

Moving away from the traditional adventure game route, the game could alternatively be a Telltale-style dialogue-driven affair... unless everyone's bored of those types of games now, having clocked on to their whole 'illusion of choice' shtick

Paga Min

The leader of the Kyrat region in the game Far Cry 4, Pagan Min is an entertaining and, when necessary, ruthless leader. His panic as the players protagonist liberates the region from Min's rule allows for funny moments as he assures his people that all is well. Though the story and action of the game may be more predictable , Min shines as a dynamic villain with origins that were only briefly covered.

A solo game exploring his childhood and upbringing, and ultimately his rise to power, would be a story gamers could enjoy without feeling too guilty about their actions along the way. Similar to the Joker, there would be plenty of witty commentary with Min as the lead.

The Boss And Her Cobra Unit - Metal Gear Solid 3

With all the accusations of sexism and dodgy gender representations levelled at Metal Gear Solid over the years, it's a wonder why Konami
haven't done more to push one of the series' most intriguing characters to the fore.

The Boss, or The Joy, is a female super-soldier and mother of Ocelot, who's also Snake's mentor and antagonist in Metal Gear Solid 3.

While she's well past her physical prime by the time she runs into Snake (still giving him one hell of a hard time), her history of military
operations is fascinating. The Boss and her elite Cobra unit (the other bosses from Metal Gear Solid 3) were involved in the D-Day landings during World War II, assassinations, bombings of Nazi bases, as well as
capturing high-ranking figures in the Third Reich army. Some missions she carried out solo, others as part of her unit, but wherever she was is where the action was at, by the looks of things. So why not take the
Metal Gear Solid series back in time to join The Boss and her crew on their world-saving adventures?

A plot set during WWII would also hopefully be a lot less convoluted and incoherent than the high-tech, head scratching stuff that comes later. Just a super-elite unit carrying out various stealth, assault and tactical operations in World War II.

There'd even be room for a parallel co-op campaign, in which each player
controls a different member of the Cobra Unit.

Vaas - Far Cry 3
We know from the off that the story of the psychopathic Vaas from Far Cry 3 isn't going to be a redemptive tale, bearing in mind how unhinged he ends up being. But Vaas is also intelligent, impulsive, and one hell of a guy to spend time with (from a gamer's perspective). It was a crime to kill off Vaas some time before the end of the game, and the story kind of fizzled out once he was no longer involved. But what little we know of Vaas' backstory could be fleshed out to make a great game.

The guy was actually born into the Rook Islands' native Rakyat tribe and the brother of their leader Citra. He went through the same warrior trials as Jason Brody before Citra wanted to have an inbred warrior baby with him. Poor adolescent Vaas obviously felt a tad uncomfortable about this, and duly fled the islands, only to return as a pirate to terrorise its populace years later. See? It was all Citra's goddam fault!

A rise-and-fall story of Vaas would be fantastic, seeing him earn his warrior colours, but then flee and become corrupted by trying to survive in the wider world. What makes him go back to terrorise his Rakyat brothers and sisters? At which point does he flip to the dark side? It should be a first-person shooter, but with a greater focus on dark hallucinatory sequences as he descends into drug addiction, and a hell of a lot less focus on capturing outposts (though given it'd be an Ubisoft game, that's wishful thinking cheesy). Sense will not kill me grin

Jecht - Final Fantasy X
Jecht is a cool dude. He may be a bit on the surfer-guy side like his squeaking, intolerable son Tidus, but he's gruffer, tougher, and meaner - which already makes him much more appealing as a hero.

He'salso one of the greatest blitzball players to have ever existed, and although he's prone to drinking too much and being bullish towards his son (who wouldn't be towards a kid like Tidus?), this is the direct result of the tragic death of his wife.

Ofcourse, Jecht is far more than a blitzball player, so it wouldn't quite do him justice to just star him in a Final Fantasy spin-off sports game called "Jecht's Blitzball Evolution Tourney 3000". Instead, a game revolving around him should follow his realisation about the existence of Dream Zanarkand, his subsequent arrest for raving about it like a drunken loon, then his quest to defeat Sin with the motley crew of Yuna, Al Bhed and Auron. It'd give fans a chance to see more of Jecht's softer side, and his desire to be a good father to his son, despite being seemingly incapable of it.

Perhaps most importantly, it'd give us the opportunity to use that awesome black sword that he tantalisingly carries around with him (you feel me?) wink

Sephiroth - Final Fantasy VII

Greatest Final Fantasy villain? Quite possibly, but whatever the case he's certainly the most worthy of being the star of his own video game. That's because rather than looking like he'd popped out of his mother's womb with the immediate intention of killing her then taking over the world, he was actually a great hero before descending into madness.

Infused with cells from the Godlike Jenova and taken away at birth, Sephiroth was raised as a soldier and soon became a war hero for his feats in the Wutai War, rising through the ranks and becoming an icon. A Final Fantasy starring Sephiroth could take place against the backdrop of this war, charting his heroic efforts and growing friendships with Angeal and Genesis.

This trio could be the core characters and party members in the game, with others coming, going and dying throughout the war. Eventually, we know that Sephiroth gets pitted against his former (and only) friends, and it'd be fascinating to explore the emotional turmoil, conflicted feelings and loneliness he experienced at the time, even though fans of the series will already know much of the story surrounding him.

It would explore how the seeds were sown for Sephiroth's downfall (or rise to villainous awesomeness, depending on how you look at it), offering insight into one of gaming's more misunderstood villains.

With the way I'm bringing up idea on how the game should look I think I should become a game developer or waddya think? lol grin grin

Joker - Batman Video Game Series

The infamous villain has certainly appeared in a ton of different media, but in the Arkham series he remains a constant threat, even in death, to
the Batman. When players were briefly able to use the Joker in the last series installment, Batman: Arkham Knight, it was a mere taste of what a solo Joker game would look like.

Further, having a game like this would finally answer how he and other villains can set up these elaborate schemes, but still be foiled in the end.

While this would be another villain whose dark mind would tempt some gamers to stray away from the game, we can't deny how awesome it would be to play as the clown prince of crime

Yeah I know the list is endless and I might have forgotten to mention that villain you've got in mind, but that's why the comments section is right? So make use of and tell us which video game villain do you think deserves their own video games
