The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has read the riot act to the ministers of labour and employment, Dr Chris Ngige and that of aviation, Hadi Sirika, on the need to inaugurate all boards under their ministries within one week or face sanctions from the party.

Vanguard reports that in a letter dated July 11, and addressed to the ministers, the APC chairman berated the ministers for failing to reconstitute the boards which according to him contravenes the position of the National Executive Council and the presidential directives to all ministers, describing it as a great disrespect to the party.

the letter reads: “This is to inform you that the attention of the National Working Committee has been drawn to your refusal to inaugurate members of the re-constituted boards under the supervision of your ministry.

“This contravenes the position of the NEC, national caucus and the presidential directives to all ministers to inaugurate boards of parastatals under their ministries. We find this attitude as a disrespect to the President and disservice to our great party.

“The party will henceforth no longer tolerate any appointee of government at all level who continue to willfully disregard lawful instructions from either the government or the party.

“In the light of the forging, you are hereby directed to inaugurate all the boards under your ministry within one week, failure of which the party will take appropriate disciplinary measures against you”, it stated.

Which kind of beer parlour gist is this?
What power has a party leader to control or order how a minister should run his or her ministry?

Government politics is different from party politics. Oshiomole has no such power.

Party politics put the man in the ministerial position. So government politics has spheres of interference with party politics. If the report is true, then it goes to show that maybe APC chose to change their chairman at a late hour, but all the same hope it's not too late for them.

The news can't be true. Party politics is different from government politics, even though both are interconnected and work together. The fact is that, ministers aren't constitutionally answerable to party chairman, so there is no way a party chairman will publicly promise to sanction any minister for erring in ministerial duties, not erring as a party member.
I ask, does Oshiomole's power override that of Buhari?
How can he sanction Ministers Buhari doesnt even intend to sanction?

Only Buhari can, the worse Oshiomole can do is to influence the President and doing that, he can't boldly say he will sanction as that power lies with the president

This is the same mentality of thinking party politics and government politics are the same or party politics is supreme that saw Saraki smartly becoming Senate president when PDP senators and pro-Saraki were the majority in the house while the rest APC senators were having meeting with party men, Tinubu et al, when they were supposed to be at senate chambers for inauguration.

Constitutionally, they were supposed to be at chambers at that time as party politics or meetings at the same time was inconsequential and didn't concern governmental activities.

There are clear differences in government politics and party politics even though both can have interference but one needs to know the boundaries
