I'm an 100L student of botany in a federal university,I got admission after 3½years of staying at home(always applying for medicine).Even after my admission I still wrote jamb dis year,I know getting an employment after schooling is more guaranteed in medicine than in botany. But I'm just worried of the stress n struggles that my family will have to go through again if I get admitted into medicine. But as for botany, I'll finish early, but that will happen after that?that's what I keep asking myself, considering Nigeria's economic climate. Pls should I still pursue my medical dreams or settle for botany, sometimes I have dis feeling that I'm doing the right thing, other times I have dis feeling that I'm making a mistake. Though I sometimes have dis thought of learning programming in school n going to a business school after finishing from botany. Will any of these ideas(learning programming n going to a business school) actually a be practical step that could be helpful after graduation?or Should I just ignore those fears n still pursue medicine or settle for botany, I need ur advice guys, especially those who were once in my shoes.

Do u even have the passion of saving lives and caring for people...? Cos all ur aim is about getting a job....

My beleif is we are all gonna get to the top if we don't give up. Some will start strong with a 300k- 400k job, and some will start pretty rough, as rough as 20k seff...

I've seen doctors earning 40k permonth because they couldn't get a job with the federal health service and all they could find for the moment is just 2 days a week shift in a small private hospital.....
Clearly, it's not about the course for u, but about the pay/ job after graduation..
U need to calm down, it's good u have tomorow in mind at this stage, it won't let anything give u a shocker.
I won't tell u what course to do because somany pathways lead to success. But whatever u choose...don't be a mediocre, don't be average, don't put in ur best, but put in what is required to be at the top in that field and beleive me, if u don't allow village people enter ur matter....the rest will work out just fine...

In was in your shoes years ago. Read Botany. If you have a passion for saving lives (not about whether you will get a job), try applying for medicine while in your 100L and 200L and if you succeed, switch. If it doesn't work, continue with Botany.

Sometimes, a man wants something but another comes his way.

Finally, doing businesses is better than working for any company. Learn skills such as programming, HSE, NIM etc. You can start a business by saving some of your pocket money, apply for scholarships (look for an Agency or register online).
