BUHARI GETS CREDIT FOR SUCCESSFUL EKITI POLL - BMO

The Buhari Media Organization has described the successful conduct of the Ekiti State governorship election as the triumph of the will of the people enabled to be freely expressed by a Federal Government that comported itself as an objective moderator of the electoral process.

"We join all well meaning Nigerians in congratulating Dr John Kayode Fayemi on his election as governor-elect of Ekiti in the just concluded governorship election in Ekiti State. We observe with pride that the election process was described as peaceful, transparent and well organized," the BMO said in a statement signed by Chiefs Niyi Akinsiju and Cassidy Madueke, Chairman and Secretary respectively of the group.

"As we congratulate Dr Fayemi and the good people of Ekiti State, we also express gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment to exercising the power of the Federal Government responsibly during the course of the election compared to what obtained in the same Ekiti State four years ago. This is how governments at different levels of our federal system should relate," the BMO added in the statement.

The group, however, appealed to Dr Fayemi to adopt a pacifist approach to rallying the people of the State to his administration even before his formal swearing-in as governor of the State.

"Without doubt, the Ekiti State governorship election was keenly contested with expected frayed nerves and bitter emotional outburst characterising relationship between winning party and opposition, in this regard, we call on the governor-elect to be pacifist in rallying the totality of Ekiti people to himself as the centre of the new impetus for desirable development in the State."
