As part of its strategic drive to strengthen business partnerships between Nigeria and China, First Bank of Nigeria Limited, recently organised the FirstBank-Chinese Business forum.

Themed: Deepening Sino-Nigerian Cooperation the Forum was organised as part of the overarching strategy by the Bank to drive business conversations and the promotion of business and economic partnerships between Nigeria and China.

Only recently, the Central Bank of Nigeria reached a currency swap agreement with the Peoples Bank of China, in order to ease the burden of the liquidity issues faced by Nigerian business owners and Chinese manufacturers.

Notably, FirstBank is among the four banks appointed as settlement banks in the deal.

As such, the FirstBank-Chinese business forum is one of the bank’s efforts to drive better customer services culture as part of its service excellence initiative.

The Group Chairman, CIG Motors, Diana Chen, was among the panellists at the plenary session that discussed the recently signed currency swap deal between the Chinese and the Nigeria governments, Lekki free trade zone, and other collaboration between Nigeria and China.

FirstBank’s Group Executive, Treasury & Financial Institutions, Ini Ebong; Head, Foreign Banking Services, Ayotunde Fanimokun; and Group Head, Products & Marketing Support, Abiodun Famuyiwa, joined in the plenary session with the Chinese industrialist.

Speaking, the Managing Director/CEO, First Bank of Nigeria Limited & Subsidiaries, Adesola Adeduntan, said: “The business relationship between China and Nigeria is of great importance to us, hence the establishment of our Representative Office in Beijing, China in 2010. “

Good move but critical look needed to be put into our manufacturing sector to lessen overdependence on foreign goods.

At least China is far better than those useless European and American governments that have used and exploited Africans and Nigeria for years without contributing anything tangible towards Africa and Nigeria as a whole.

In less than 10years of Africa relationship with China, Africa and Nigeria have gained immensely from our partnership with China.

I guess you need to visit other Africa countries to see what China has done and still planning to do, trust me, you ll chase America and Europe out of Africa.

At a point, Europe and America began to call the attention of each other to what China is doing in Africa...

Europe and America ll rather allow Africa to wallow in poverty and kill themselves in wars than helping out in terms of infrastructures...

Trust me, if not cos America and Europe are intentionally destroying our economies in Africa so as to keep Africa where it’s today, Africa would have gone far.

The same America and Europe decided on behalf of many countries after the 2nd world war what currency to accept for goods and services around the world and continue to manipulate the whole system to favour them till date.

It’s high time for Africa and Nigeria to kick America out of Africa. Period.

Note.... he didn't say ....so ask yourself how?.....how is this going to benefit Nigeria? ...and see if you can come up with a good answer before shouting good move ...or welcomed development t.
This is to make it easy for the Chinese to get paid...and do business with Nigeria....and for Chinese to get funding to open and expand businesses in Nigeria.
Free Trade Zone is pure exploitation ...use of land and exploitation of human resources/Nigerians. Nigeria has no jurisdictionover a FTZ.... the Chinese can basically do what they want.... all while paying very little if any taxes. ..no duties period. So how ...how is this of any benefit to us? The only Nigerians who benefit are the politicians bribed by the Chinese.

No country, no continent on earth - not America, not Europe, not China, NO ONE - can develop Africa, except Africans!

Those guys come here for their own gain! If there was no big gain, they will not come! They are exploiting us and using our resources to create wealth for themselves. What you see as infrastructure is peanut compared to what they are ripping from us! Do not ever think that they are doing us a favor by coming.

Africans need to think of how to develop Africa by themselves. But of course it has to start with electing the right leaders. But for now, no hope in sight especially for Nigeria.

I know that, and totally agreed with you.

However, a friend who wants you to succeed in life by adding little value to your life is far better than your own blood-cousins, brothers that wished you remain in stagnant position for life.

China is gaining a lot from Africa just like America and Europe had gained more than enough in recent years without contributing anything to African success stories.

The little infrastructures contributed by China in less than 10years is far far beyond what Europe and America have ever contributed for over 50years of being our foes instead of our friends. And guess what? What China is planning for Africa for the next 10years is nothing but peace, political stability, economic wealth, foreign investment and unrivalled infrastructures while our America and Europe plans for the next 50years is to keep us in economic bondage, wars and of course depreciating currencies.

Africa can’t do it alone, they still need other nations but not vultures like USA and UK.

At least they are far better than those vultures called Americans and Europeans in all ramifications.

Would you continue to work for free with a company that hasn’t pay your salary for years and doesn’t make you feel career-fulfilled or work for a new company that pay less “constant salary” but ensuring you constantly attend professional course/training with career progression in view? Make your choice.
