LatestNews180:
Due to the epileptic power supply in Nigeria, solar energy has been a recommended alternative source of electricity.

Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity. For efficiency and efficacy, however, long-lasting solar power systems require a high-quality inverter with a robust convention cooling system.

So, what exactly are these solar Inverters?

Solar inverters are technologies that convert the variable direct current (DC) output of a photovoltaic solar panel into a utility frequency alternating current (AC), which can be inputted into an electrical grid or used by a local electrical network.

Solar inverter forms the balance of system (BOS), which is a core component in a photovoltaic system, therefore allowing the use of ordinary AC-powered equipment.

Sit back and read through this piece as I reveal to you various types of solar inverters in Nigeria — alongside their specs and prices.

The Nigeria market is currently equipped with three major types of solar inverters.

Each one of them, however, has different specifications even though they perform the same function. Also, they have different working principles but achieve the same goal. The types or classifications include:

Stand-alone Inverters/Off Grid Inverter: This is an electrical inverter that converts DC power stored in batteries to AC power that can be utilized based on need. Normally, Stand-alone inverters usually come in sizes from 100watts to 8000watts. The minimum can be used to power notebook computers and fax machines when affixed to your car while the maximum can be used for powering an entire house or small commercial operations.

Grid-tie Inverter: An electrical inverter which is associated with the grid can be said to be a grid-tie inverter. How does it work? It works by feeding power from or to the electricity grid by corresponding phase and frequency. Do you know the beauty of these inverters? They are designed to automatically shut down once they sense a loss of supply from the utility. Grid-tie Inverters are used between local electrical power generators like the solar panel, wind turbine, hydroelectric, and grid.

Battery Backup Inverter: These special types of inverters are particularly designed to draw energy from a battery. The charge of the battery is, however, preserved by using an onboard charger, and an additional energy is transferred to the utility grid. These types of inverters have the ability to provide AC Power to particular loads during power shortages. In addition, they are also equipped with anti-islanding function.

Micro Inverter: These are the latest inverters in the solar industry. They are small, compact, and portable with a wide spectrum of performance. On a general note, they include a single solar module that generates DC to be converted to AC.

Solar Inverters Price List in Nigeria

OP, this your post, although encouraging, is a bit deceiving.
Batteries are the core of the system and they don't come cheap.
Even those inverter prices you posted are not obtainable in the market by a mile. It is still a good proposition though for anyone who can afford it until Nigeria's government can actually reduce or remove duties from these equipment or better still, solve the power problem in the country.

Meanwhile, check out my 5kva inverter and 8 solar panels for sale so you can enjoy uninterrupted power supply, like I did before my batteries packed up.

My only problem with this solar inverter is that the battery hardly lasts. My friend installed one and before 1 year the battery packed up. Is there a solution to this?

Same thing with cars..must battery in Nigeria are from China and Korea but if you buy European batteries like German or checks republic, you will see the difference. Before I use to change car battery untill Gazzuz sent me one called baroclem. Gazzuz sells the original, my battery that use to last just one year is now beginning to last 3years plus.

The most confusing thing in 9ja is that u see a big man going to buy diesel plants and running with diesel everyday instead of just going fr solar,,,,like I'm confused is it that solar is not reliable as it seems?
Lack of information....
Knowledge is power!

During the reign of Governor odili of rivers state,he brought in solar powered street lights....which eliminated the regular purchase of diesel for the generator! Though most of the equipments were a bit substandard, but the idea and concept was never wrong!

But when amaechi became governor of rivers state, rather than improve on it,he decided to the "best of his supposed knowledge" to scrap solar powered street lights and continue with the normal diesel generators that powers these street lights.... What you get is a total wastage of resources just to power street lights!

The issue with some so call big men is that they are not really informed about the capability and durability of solar system hence they opt for the one they know of which is the diesel powered generators!

If you are not adequately informed, you will be deformed!

To buttress your points above;
1. There is a difference between INVERTER and INVERTER SYSTEM. Most of the prices you stated above are for the inverter unit alone but most people reading thw thread think it is the total package.
Secondly, you can't tak abiut inverter and not discussing LOAD AUDIT

Above all, i say wehdone sir

Good inverters are expensive, forget all this China & Indian knockoffs. No doubt these countries make high quality inverters but for scarcity of funds and to max profit, our people import the knockoffs. To get a good setup that offers 3 - 5 years warranty will cost you good sum in the range of N650,000 and above.
