One of the best gifts my parents gave me
is the opportunity to learn a skill.
Although this was after I had completed
high school but those website design
classes at the last holiday have given
birth to my blog ( www.ekowoman.com )
which is one of my accomplishments as a
tech student and from this I earn a living.
Schools are on holiday and this will be a
long one, parents should ensure that their
wards acquire a skill to empower them
early enough to be independent until they
are old enough to discern what path
they want to go in life.

At age 32, Mark Zuckerberg, the founder
of Facebook has greatly influenced the
way we interact and share ideas yet his
parents gave him the same gift as mine
did for me- his parents hired a private
computer tutor David Newman who came
to their house once a week to work with
Mark. Microsoft founder and business
mogul Bill Gates also shared, “I was 13
when I first got access to a computer. I
wrote a program to play tick-tack-toe.”
Having had my first degree at the
university, I realize that there are so many
things to learn that the school system
can never cover but giving your kids a
clear path in music, arts, computer,
fashion or any other field aside the regular
things they do at school will sooner or
later be greatly appreciated and quite
rewarding.

With the increasing demands of the
family, parents are unable to keep up with
the activities of their wards especially
when engaged at work. Giving them the
platform to be busy with the available
time will be worthwhile as we know that,
“an idle mind is the devil’s workshop.”
Many great super stars we appreciate
today started out as kids and they always
appreciate their parents for creating the
path they followed to greatness. Your
child deserves this gift this holiday.
