Paying pastors and Imams to sensitize people on corruption sounds like nonsense to me. Like you're paying them to do their job.

Is it not the government's job to put systems in place that will reduce the attractiveness of corruption and also tough punitive measures has been known to work better than sensitization.

We must remember that the Almighty Allah will ask all of us to render account of our deeds in the hereafter.

Sure... We all must account for our deeds... I pray our deeds shall be enough to send us to Al-Jannal Firdau. Amiin.

What's then their duty to God if they don't? Any Pastor that collects this money is going to hell.

I want to believe that this information is fake. If true, then there is something definitely wrong with our leaders, properly so called. Are the mosques and churches now taxable? Some, if not all of these imams and Pastors, are part-time jobs. By the way, do they need to be paid to teach moral?
First step towards taxing religious bodies. A big trap

Free money.

Paid to do what they're supposed to do in the first place.

This is simply rubbish, a clear violation of the separation of church/mosque and state! What business does a state government have with the teaching of "morality" anyway? Who gets to decide whose "morality" is taught? And while we're at it, has Ambode paved every road, provided clean water to every house, and working sewage facilities to every neighborhood, to have spare cash lying around to dole out to pastors and imams?

Anyone who sees the slightest good in this reveals him or herself as a rank ignoramus. This is an egregious case of misplaced priorities, the sort of thing that would have masses of voters up in arms and marching on Alausa, if the Nigerian electorate weren't mostly made of the barely literate and the apathetic.

Double portion: after exploiting their members they will still get paid. Most of these pastors and imams that are more corrupt and ' sinful' than their members... I see!!!

Mrchippychappy:
You can't pay a man of God to teach the gospel, if it is truly his calling then he has an obligation to preach and win souls. This is wrong on so many levels and if there is still hope left for the gospel in Nigeria, the men of God should turn it down and instead advise governor Ambode to instead create a youth empowerment SME initiative with the money he intends to give the pastors. Some of these youths that go down the path of yahoo boys or "runs girls" do so not because of a lack of moral inclination or a lack of moral doctrine or teaching (as some would say who morality epp?) rather they do so due to failed government policies and very limited opportunities in the job market, empower some of these youths and watch them turn into self sufficient and self reliant entrepreneurs! The Nigerian problem is not a morality problem, it is rather a problem of poor investment in the capacity of our population and man power.

He said: “We shall be willing to even engage many of them by making provision for their salaries so that they can assist government to re-orientate the people for good.

In a sane society, the monetary incentives will be rejected by the Religious leaders and they will still preach against immorality and corruption and do their work for God
But THIS IS NIGERIA!

You are so right, all we need is the enabling not like one Governor that wanted to License Pastoring to people before they can preach

the only thing that discourages corruption and immorality is punishment but unfortunately in Nigeria, as long as you an elite or related to one, you can do anything and go scot free
