Saw it yesterday, only disappeared when it was 100% covered around 9pm and was later resurfaced and went back to fool moon by 11pm dot.

Yes, Mars comes this close very rarely.... the last time it came this close was in 2003. It is in perehelic opposition with the sun (that is Mars and the sun are in opposite sides of the sky from earth's point of view when Mars is closest to the sun in its orbit). It will drift the closest to earth on July 31;so get your camera ready to capture the red planet (a.k.a Mars) to see its real beauty. For who knows, one day in our lifetime we just may visit Mars.
