Okrika, actually means different name to many Nigerian most especially if you are from south west part of the country but, Okrika is the name of a coastal town in Rivers State, Nigeria, capital of the Local Government Area. Situated on a small island south of Port Harcourt making it a suburb of the much larger city.

They speak the Kirike language and Igbo as well as common language. Being a port town, it is the location where slaves were bought and sold in the 17th Century, before the abolition of slave trade. That kind of has made the name to be associated with second hand trading ever since. Refined petroleum products are Okrika’s only significant exports. The town has considerable local trade in fish, oil palm produce, and locally processed salt.
