BREAKING: Deputy Senate President Ekweremadu In EFCC Custody by Ngtimes: 4:29pm On Jul 31, 2018
Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, is at the EFCC office, multiple sources have told PREMIUM TIMES.
Mr Ekweremadu was said to have arrived at the anti-graft agency’s office in Abuja between 9-10:00 a.m.
“He is currently at the interrogation room,” a source told PREMIUM TIMES. Another EFCC staff also said Mr Ekweremadu is with anti-graft detectives, but could not say when he would be released.
“We have some questions for him bordering on corruption,” a source said. “But we do not know yet when he would be released, we will know this by 5:00 p.m.”
Mr Ekweremadu, the most-senior member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in public office, was invited for questioning last week Tuesday.
The invitation became public hours after EFCC operatives laid a siege to the top lawmaker’s home at Apo Legislative Quarters, Abuja.
Mr Ekweremadu has faced multiple allegations of sharp practices in recent years, including claims that he forged Senate standing rules which led to the controversial election of principal officers in June 2015.
He has also been accused of owning multiple properties abroad, some allegedly purchased using shell firms and political associates fronting for him.
Mr Ekweremadu strongly denied all allegations of corruption, alleging political persecution and daring anyone with evidence of sharp practices against him to come forward.
Mr Ekweremadu’s spokesperson, Uche Anichukwu, did not immediately have comments for PREMIUM TIMES about the development, saying he was “boarding” a flight.
Wilson Uwujaren, a spokesperson for the EFCC, said he would need some time to find out details of Mr Ekweremadu’s presence at the anti-graft office.

Details shortly…

If he does not answer all questions convincingly, he should remain with the EFCC.

Look at what that tyrant has turned this country to. A wolf is still a wolf no matter the skin it covers itself with. I spit on those morons above me posting nonsense. Do you know the damage Buhari has caused this country in the international community? Democracy is dying rapidly under the leadership of this coup plotter. Once you don't dance to the evil tunes of APC, you are a criminal, no matter your national standing. Darkness shall never conquer the light, its just for a while.

It's now clearing to me that this Buhari has no integrity at all. Even, Tinubu need to have a rethink about this useless old fool. Probably he think that vendetta against opponents will bring the required success or this man has no adviser at all. If this is the way of life then we rather not vote at all cos second term of this man will be calamitous. The love I have for him has totally turned 100℅ hatred. Why should he be running after opposition when the corruption about birbacha lawal that was committed under his nose was left unattended to. God will punish this old fool.

Ekweremmadu is clearly a criminal with many houses overseas. He should return every penny he has stolen from feom the country treasury. Meanwhile i will suggest EFCC should detain him until he gives them a satisfactory answer.

Though Buhari is a clumsy nepotistic tyrant, it is nice for as many politicians as possible to taste jail.

PDP too should strive to attain power so as to jail APC members.

I don't want any sermons about true/false democracy. We are not yet ready for true democracy in Nigeria

Jail would be deterrent to embezzlers

At the end of the day, a vast majority of our politicians and political office holders do not have clean hands and they have illegally enriched themselves.
That's why I rarely comment in politics section cos if we put sentiments aside, they're all brothers-in-arms in looting our commonwealth.
My sympathy is for the online warriors who have become blindly partisan for people who don't know that they exist.

cover up for the undemocratic blockade last week that prevented him from going to work.

We will know EFCC is serious when they go to court. EFCC must not detain him more than the law allows

A welcome development, when PDP takes power in 2019 they should also probe Amechi and other APC members.
