Most times, we are carried away by emotions, especially in a new relationship. Most importantly in a relationship where sex is involved. Usually, the female gender is at greater risk and has a lot to lose, when an explicit image of her is posted online. Ladies have their dignities at stake and would do anything possible to avoid this fate. Anybody can use this as a way to blackmail and extort money from you. I must write this here and now, NEVER, I repeat, NEVER allow your spouse, no matter how much you guys are love struck, NEVER allow him or her take a nude photo of you while you guys are romantically involved or while having sex. Do not allow anyone sweet talk you into it. Whether your fiance or fiancee. Remember no one knows tomorrow. You don’t know the future of that relationship. But if you have made that mistake already and you are at the verge of being blackmailed or have been blackmailed, here are some things to do to salvage the situation.

FIRSTLY: there must be a threat from your blackmailer from the on set, informing you of his intentions. Once there is a threat, start keeping evidence of such threats. Record conversations on your mobile phone, keep text sent by the blackmailer. Sometimes people ask this question, how did your nude photos appear online? Its either you gave it to someone or someone got hold of it. When you have concrete evidence of this, quickly report to the law enforcement agency, there are also non-governmental organizations that take up the fight for helpless victims.

SECONDLY: if your images are already posted online? Fear not! There are things you can do to get them off. Requests should be made to the website(s) hosting this material. Most of these sites are under several laws. There are some websites which will accept to take down. these photos for payment, I will call this extortion, which is still illegal. You can obtain injunction from a court of law that will stop the photo from being published else where or taking the photo down totally.

THE GOODNESS: the good news is that, the largest search engine which is google, published a policy on June 19, 2015. Stating that they would honour the request of those who have been victims of revenge porn, that is taking down nude photos, after the victim has made request for such. Now you know what it means, when google the largest search engine takes down content from its database, you know that will go a long way to salvage the situation.

REMEMBER: do not allow any one take sexually explicit photos of you or family/friends. People have lost money, dignity, jobs, friends and even their lives from making such misstates. In 2016 a teenage girl committed suicide after her friends shared her nudes on snapchat. Please be cautious.
