None of the devices we've been discussing as being killed are truly off the shelf.

No sane professional photographer will do without a proper DSLR.

To the average person, no need for a Compass or GPS device.

That's true, technology making life easier, I wonder why a part of the country refuse to embrace it, just because of their religion.
Which part of the country and which religion? I assume you mean the north and islam. If not that you are a fool and refuse to embrace technology yourself, you would have used google to find out that muslims invented cameras and thus photography(the first camera is on display at the british museum) made by a muslim, the first surgery ever is by a muslim, we also invented the magnetic compass for navigation, electricity(ever heard about the baghdad batery?), we invented algebra and alkemi(chemistry), we build the first university in recorded history, the first public sewage system, we invented perfume and soaps, first cotton clothing, northern nigeria has the only nuclear research institute in nigeria, headed by a northern muslim, we have bio technology research centers in the north, we make night vision goggles for the military at DICON

I don't insult faceless people on social media, I don't live life that way its my culture, I am not talking about the west ( Europe ) because they know when to draw the line, those people are not extremists like the ones we have in the north , they have the only nuclear institute who took it there? the northern ruling elites because is something related to something use in destruction ( war ) and they control the military. hence, it was cited there. A corp member who enrolled some children as her CDS project was almost killed because they consider education as haram, why is education haram in the north? I guess because they don't want the less privilege to know their right from left, if they adore education how would a 9 years old child agree to marry an alhaji of 70 years, if the poor almagiris visit the four walls how would the elites used them for religious wars and electoral malpractices, for these reasons they deprive them and also the reason the almagiri school built by the past govt was stopped. in terms of education can you compare Northern and Southern Nigeria? and through education technology is enhance. If everybody is given equal opportunities in this country, the north will be no where, they are somewhere because of the quota system. I am not tribalistic but the fact must be spoken and it hurts, the southern naija still has their problem but let's leave it for another day.

You keep saying we, we...

Al-gebra and Al-chemy are Arabic not necessarily Muslim(Islam).

There inventions that are English i.e by English men, it doesn't make the inventions christianly.
By virtue of their geography and praying methods (which is basically an important factor to most orthodox religions in positioning the Altar). Arabs are sky gazers (star gazers) and because their region is desertly moving on donkey/horse back...their movements is dependent on sighting the direction and angle of the sun. This one of the earliest technologies, cameras and spyglasses and all...

Mesopotamia, Babylon, Egypt all are somewhat located in Arabland and much of the earliest technologies and civilizations started in those places. The hindu-arabic numerals belong to Indians who are predominantly Hindus...

And if you check all these Arab countries they are far advanced than Nigeria and these countries even though are much more Islamic than our North, they are still conservative towards technology.

The dude you quoted is telling you the reality of our North. The rich elite Northerners are giving their kids the best education Southerners cannot afford but they deliberately use religion and illiteracy to becloud the vast majority of the North and that is why the North is backward.

The Nuclear institute you cited was started simultaneously in OAU over 40years ago by southern scientists and expatriates but when Muritala saw the rate at which the Nuclear centre at OAU was advancing is too rapid, he gave an order to halt all activities and shut it down so the one in the North can improve.

When NDA was to be established, two places were proposed (Oshogbo and Kaduna)...The North will have it.

The National Control Center of (phcn) is in Oshogbo yes.. but the Server where all information, data and Database is house...located in Shiroro....The North

The first University is in Ibadan, but when the first faculty of Engineering is to be established, it goes to the ABU in 1963.....The North. Yabatech was originally established to train Craftsmen who will assist expatriates at the Railways and help them with fixing broken telephone, telegram lines...

Even though Oil was discovered in the down down south...the most viable and longest serving refinery was situated in the North...

All these was to give Northerners a big leap and edge yet it's dominated by Southerners because the system of control in the North will not permit an averagely intelligent young lad to be ambitious and opt for higher learning except such persons are from royal descent or a wealthy clan.

You cited DICON, the census of the Southern scientists and Engineers working in our military is enough to tell you the North had been backward.

Emir Sanusi is by far the most liberal, and exposed northerner and he has warned his fellow northern emirs of the dangers of backwardness...which they castigated him anyway for sending a female child to represent him...you should not be surprised
He's an alumnus of King's College Lagos. And he knows the North with all the privileges that even you have mentioned, has refused to shun backwardness.

The dude is not arguing where the first technologies came from. S/he is simply stating hard facts that you yourself know are very correct.
