Facial eczema is a skin condition where the face develops scaly, itchy patches of red bumpy skin that gets worse as it is scratched.
Even though it does look unsightly especially when infected, this skin
condition is not contagious as it is driven by the immune system.
The condition affects people of all ages
and sexes.

Factors that exacerbate the condition
include:
-Pollution, especially in big and industrial cities.
-the family history of eczema.
Other immune conditions like asthma and hay fever.
Dairy. Stress
and lack of sleep.
Some ingredients in washing soap and other home cleaning substances.
Excessive sweating.

Symptoms
-Bumpy,red patches on the face, neck, shoulders, and arms that itch.
Dry skin.
-Attendant skin infections due to constant scratching.
-In chronic, untreated cases, the eczema patches become knotted, thick, dark and raised and the area develops a permanent itch.

Treatment and prevention
Moisturising is the most effective treatment and prevention for this skin condition.
-Hydrocortisone and corticosteroid creams help with the itching and inflammation.
-skin care products should not be harsh or contain drying ingredients and should preferably be water-based.
-Avoid harsh makeup products that are not formulated for sensitive skin.
-Take care to always wipe off sweat and bathing regularly.
-Always drink enough water.
