Kofi Annan, the former United Nations Secretary General, has died at the age of 80. The UN made the announcement on Saturday. Kofi Atta Annan, a Ghanaian diplomat was born on 8 April 1938. He served as the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations from January 1997 to December 2006. Annan and the UN were the co-recipients of the 2001 Nobel Peace Prize.
