The most annoying thing is that DSTV/Multichoice continue to increase the prices of their silly bouquets without any iota of improvement in the content.
It's the same repetitive boring old stuff.
If you take out the live sports, which is football, wrestling and boxing, almost every other program is a re-run.

What exactly is the role of Consumer Protection Council (CPC)?
"The Consumer Protection Council (CPC) Act, enacted in 1992 is the primary law in Nigeria which centres on a pragmatic approach to enforcement of consumer rights making the Act consumer focused. Section 6 of the Act provides that consumers can bring complaints where they have suffered a loss, injury or damage while Section 8 provides for opportunity for consumers to get redress which makes the Act adequate to meet consumer rights."
ENFORCEMENT OF CONSUMER RIGHTS- It is not your right to watch Pay TV at low cost
LOSS, INJURY or DAMAGE- In this case, what exactly have we suffered? Pay TV subscription is not a necessity.I
Nigeria operates a free market economy
If CPC wants to be great, they should arrest those selling ram at inflated prices. FOOD IS A NECESSITY!

So it is your right to eat ram?
so ram is now a necessity? dont you have fish, crayfish etc. You can argue with your ancestors

After dem don charge us for August?
We are so reactive instead of proactive in the is country; the planned increase was an open secret in the industry, if anything would have been done, it should have been done before the increase.

This is price regulation whixh can only be done when a competition law is in place. The law was passed and made to become federal competition and consumer protection commission and not assented to by the president recently. A very powerful cartel is frustrating the process cus it will handle other things like price fixing and and monopoly as well.Except that law is in place CPC does not have the power to control price. If CPC does it and taken to Court, she is doing that outside her powers and u if taken to court, u knmow what's can happen

Some Nigerians can never have sense again. The suffering in the land has finished their reasoning. That slavish mentality is affecting them.

There is something called competition law. The law aims to prevent monopolies from exploiting consumers.

Babatunde Irukera and that Justice Dimgba are the two best brains in competition law in Nigeria. They are protecting Nigerians from exploiting by multichoice but some local idiots who studied Jss 1 economics are talking nonsense about demand and supply. Travel out of Nigeria to functional countries and see that all your life has been a waste.

Ambassadors:
This is where the NBC & CPC need to step in. Nigerians can be ripped off all the time. I went to a country and I saw what the government are doing, for instance as a company can't pay it's citizens peanut. There is a minimum rate you pay it's citizens for every level. The rights of its Citizen are well protected. But just as someone said in Nigeria anything goes. When shall we arise o sleeping giant!

This is price regulation and CPc cannot help with the current law .it only can when there is a competition law in place which d president didn't assent to recently

If it is open market, Multichoice will not buy right for Nigeria.... restricting access to a specific content... others in East Africa still watch selected PL matches...but a company bought right for a region? what give them the right to buy right for a sovereign state if they can not be subjected to regulation by that state.

Why should it be the Federal Government of Nigeria taking DSTV to court for price increase?

That doesn't appear appropriate and could send bad signals to investors. The FG could have worked behind the scene while pushing a private citizen to do that.

I don't think getting a Pay TV is a luxury, afterall there are different affordable packages for you to choose from. It is because we have not enjoyed for once good governance in this country that has made many people to believe certain good things are meant only for the rich and wealthy in the society.
You mentioned Moluee means of transportation. Is that what a good government should give to her citizens as a means of transportation? See, you cannot appreciate nor demand for good things if you do not know what is obtainable elsewhere. And that is the reason our corrupt government keep stealing our public funds and we say they are trying instead of us challenging them to improve our standard of life by providing basic amenities and make life more easier. But many of us are satisfied.
What stops government from making the Pay TV more affordable and cheaper by opening up the market for competition and break the monopoly of DSTV.
Let's wake up and stop accepting hardship kind of life.

dynamofizzoggs:
PayTV is a luxury, if you cannot afford it, settle for what you can. You can either sleep in a 7 star, 5 star or 2 star hotel. Nigerians like going for what they cannot afford. Live within your means and leave DStv alone. Their customers have already made payment; im sure some paid in advance sef... If you cannot enter Uber, take Moluee!

Seriously, we need a serious cable tv company dat wil compete with multichoice. They are taking Nigerians for granted.

They keep increasing tariff when the services is getting worse by the day.

They know Nigerians dont have plenty options.

Within last 1 month:

* they announced increment in tariff with few days notice to subscribers.......

** They failed to air community shield when a lot of people basically subscribed because of it. No announcement to subscriber dat dey av dropped it

**No English FA cup and carling cup (capital one) ds year and dey are yet to announced. Only few pple dat read their article after pple called dem out for failure to show community shield btw line will know dat.

May be dey will drop epl soon self before we know

Dstv will remain for pple watching african magic
we had HITV. but the Nigerian factor creeped into their business

Price of Ram has gone up from last year but the legislative wont do anything about that. The court has no business with this is an open market. Why doesnt the CPC fight bars and hotels that sell their drinks and offer services at ridiculous price.
we Nigerians are forget that DSTV is not a must own commodity, that's why there are other cheaper Pay tv that are substitute.
I think the government and its regulating bodies should leave multi-choice alone, the cost of providing these contents doesnt come cheap either, so they have the right to increase their charges.
the color and vision makes a must own biko.

This same Nigerian government over the years gave Dstv unhealthy support at the detriment of indigenous pay TV service provider. They refused to allow a level playing ground for other pay TV service provider to have a good share of the market.
