For the eight time in successive years, dozens of old women known for trading of mangoes and other seasonal ‎fruits around the school of nursing in Maiduguri have received, directly from their son, Governor Kashim Shettima, a ram each for their Eid adha annual sacrifice.

The women were transported to the Government House today (Monday) with police escort where the Governor ensured each of them went out with a ram. The women were also escorted to their homes after a brief interaction with the Governor.

Since 2011, the Governor had picked compassionate interest in the old women due to their enterprising nature. Every year, he hosted them and personally gives each of them sallah rams.

Governor Shettima had in 2012 built road side stores for the women and has consistently supported them with capitals to support their small scale businesses. In addition, he regularly patronizes the items they sell so they make good profit.

The women are known to regard the Governor as their son with most of them offering daily prayers for him in their gatherings in the midst of doing businesses.

Would those rams be enough to feed them and meet their other needs for a lifetime?Our political leaders are profering short-term and self-interest driven solutions.Elections are coming and guess he might be eyeing senatorial seat.

In this 21st well, the people are not really asking for real governance from those they voted in power.its all the same game plan since democracy in our country.People thanking politicians for doing small thing for the people,does the money belong to the politicians in the first place.We need to start asking for real governance,not stomach infrastructure everywhere..

Those wey dey follow this blood letting religion they think at all? for them festival millions of animals go loose their lives through blood shed. when festival is over they will replace it with human blood in their millions all over the world through boko haram, al kaeda, Islamic Zagreb, janjawid, etc etc...
