Deji, her husband, would not be returning from work until nine o'clock or thereabout. They were still savouring their wedding bliss, and she wistfully hoped the joy would be forever. He had almost adored her. He was always all over her, kissing, caressing and generally making fuses.

Yetunde felt like she would swoon and pass out any moment.

Apart from the chugging noise from the split air-conditioner and the soft rattling of the keys on the keyboard, everywhere was silent.

'I enjoy the work,' he replied shortly.

It was almost nine o'clock when he got to the gate of his house.

'Let me check if your dinner is ready,' she put in.
