No president can restructure Nigeria for now. All those saying that are doing so for election purposes.

Despite federal government giving monthly allocation to states, many can’t pay salaries, no meaningful and tangible projects in Nigeria.

When the Nigeria is restructured, where will many states get money to pay salaries, do projects and other welfare.
Many governor will privatize everything in the state to raise money, many states properties will be sold off.

We are not ripe for restructuring at all, this is the same mistake we made in 1960 when they gave us independence, till today we’ve not done ourselves any good.
You are too regressive, tell when will nigeria due for restructuring?

Restructure the damn country!

Everyone knows of the wealth of Switzerland. They have no President. Instead they have a federal council of 7 elected officials, all of whom have equal political power. One of them becomes the chief of state or substantive head (President) with no extra powers for one year. Another member of the federal council replaces him after one year. No second-term nonsense.

This is a country that's barely twice the size of Lagos, yet has 26 Cantons that are semi-independent of each other. Each canton has its own constitution, legislature, executive, police, courts, income tax. Same Switzerland has 4 official languages--German, French, Italian, and Romansh. Geneva is French. Uri is German. Ticino is Italian. Their smallest canton is about the size of the city of Oshogbo.

We just keep burying our heads in the sand and wonder why nothing is working. Come together, discuss our union, restructure the country to a model that'd work for us. No two European countries are exactly alike. Norway and Sweden are kingdoms. Luxembourg is a Duchy. Liechtenstein and Monaco are Principalities. Netherlands and Spain have figureheads as monarchs. Italy and Germany are parliamentary republics. France runs a semi-presidential system.

Why can't Nigeria run its own system that takes our peculiarities into account? Why will a country of 200m people let selfish id**ts take them for a ride?

May you live long!! Belgium we all saw in the World Cup is structures the same way! The Flanders are Dutch speaking Belgians and have their own region, wallonians speak French and have their own region!
Multi ethnic countries are based on regions and a central Government, it's not rocket science to know that this stupid charade we are putting on is not working! States won't even work, because they are weak, imagine telling Ebonyi state to control her resources, what resources? It would just be there and Enugu passes her by!!
We need regions and a Center that will be in charge of the Armed Forces, Diplomacy!!

Thank you His Royal Highness, this is what some of us we ordinary Nigerians wants desperately before elections and it will be good if you can get some genuinely educated Nigerians who understands what restructuring means. If there are regions who does not want Nigeria and Nigerians to move forward, please get the rest us out of lack in the mix of plenty. There is a department employing now and is only those who knows politicians and the pass or fail from some regions are being employed while the merit list are not looked at. Nigeria can never move forward as long as she continues to field uneducated, certificate forgers and those that bought certificates in her government offices. Knowledge of their positions they don't know.

yoruba man, why have you refused to blame Gowon and north who effectively ended the regional government? Is it because you are not born brave enough to challenge your northern masters but think you can take a cheap jibe at Easterners? grin
Don't let us see ourselves as Yoruba, Hausa or Igbo we are all Nigerian. If Obasanjo misbehaves I talk about him

zoning presidency solves our problems

Does it? It only favors the ones referred to as "the political elites" who r mostly motivated by self interest alone. How much of Nigeria's problems have been solved by zoning so far? The truth is generally seen, rarely heard.
