Villagers gathered in their numbers after three elephants were spotted yesterday in Koko Besse local government area, Kebbi state. The animals would have been killed had the villagers not been previously warned by the Kebbi state governor, Atiku Bagudu.

An ‪elephant was caught last year in Kebbi before it was killed and butchered by the villagers. The host community and hunters trooped to the Kebbi State Government House with great pride to present Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu with the slaughtered elephant’s Tusks.

To them, they had successfully defended their territory from a single invading elephant.

Instead of the accolades the expected, they received a lifetimes worth of telling off and an educational lecture- interspersed with threats of imprisonment.

Yesterday, after the three elephants were spotted, the Koko LG authorities assisted by security forces in the area successfully mobilized the community, secured the animals and kept them away from the usual threats from hunters - in order to avoid the wrath of the governor.

Watch Video HERE.

KEBBI STATE SHOULD PROTECT THIS ELEPHANT FROM THE "KILL AND EAT" CULTURE AND THOSE WHO WANT TO CUT THEIR IVORY FOR EXPORT TO CHINA, THAILAND AND THE REST OF SOUTH EAST ASIA COUNTRIES.

Putting this elephant in a zoo and reaping profit from zoo fees collection will help Kebbi state to add money to their internally generated revenue.

Kebbi state stop dreaming over FEDERAL ALLOCATION FROM ABUJA ( money sourced from crude oil in the Niger delta area ) take advantage of these elephants and it will spin dollars for the government of the state through tourism.

God bless u,ur Excellency for saving our scarce wildlife.our rural dwellers need continuous wildlife education for sustenance. Gov bagudu n Gov ugwanyi to me re the best governors in Nigeria, why both re investing on the economy of their respective states where they have comparative advantage, while bagudu is on farming, ugwanyi of Aba manufacturing sector.imagine both leaders presiding over Nigeria in between them,Nigeria will leapfrog so many countries in terms of development n progress.bagudu/ugwanyi for president n vice president 2023. grin grin
