Nah, maybe you have been looking at the budget redmi series because all the cameras on their mi series are excellent.

They still cut cost with their cameras but they are decent, just not on per with the best cameras out there.

The cameras on their redmi note series are decent. The cameras on the mi series are excellent but not on per with the best camera phones out there like the Samsung Galaxy s, note series, Google pixel 2, Huawei p20 pro and iPhone x.

Mi 8 has a very good camera no doubt but Samsung Galaxy s9 plus has a better camera. The inability of the mi 8 to stabilize in 4k recording at 30fps is a let down, also msot times the pictures look too saturated ehike the likes of Samsung, pixel 2 and iphone x look more natural.

Redmi note series (that would be only redmi note 5) as before now(for the redmi note 3 and redmi note 4) it was all about performance and not the camera performance. I actually didn't say the mi series are on par with Samsung or pixel level,I said they were excellent which is way more acceptable.

Hmmm... No wonder why it almost half price of Samsung. I use to think Samsung is the king of oversaturated pictures. Those youtube reviewers don't always say the truth sometimes

The s9 plus is slightly better but definitely not $300 better. U are still paying for the brand. Mi 8 starts at $550 while s9 plus is $800-850

I waas talking about the official price for both phones. Now u can get cheaper deals from different websites and sellers, eg the Galaxy s9 plus below is $730 on Amazon.

It seems price dropping is normal then... If only Samsung can go the way of xiaomi also, creating separate brand that focus on online sales only, no crazy advertisements just to make the price cheaper or Xiaomi should enter US market and compete with those big boys
