See the direction of the new frontier of nuclear power, floating nuclear power plants pioneered by the Russians, the very first of its kind.

Along the shore of Kola Bay in the far northwest of Russia lie bases for the country’s nuclear submarines and icebreakers. Low, rocky hills descend to an industrial waterfront of docks, cranes and railway tracks. Out on the bay, submarines have for decades stalked the azure waters, traveling between their port and the ocean depths. Russia is conducting an experiment with nuclear power, one that backers say is a leading-edge feat of engineering but that critics call reckless.: Read more:http://energydiscuss.com/the-nuclear-power-plant-of-the-future-may-be-floating-near-russia/

Even the one we initially promised to build, we are dragging our feet. See what the MD of Transmission Company of Nigeria said recently on the nuclear plant Nigeria is planning to build:

It depends on the way you look at it. An average Nigeria is tech-conscious, he wants to use the latest product in the field of technology, many Nigerians (students) still go to school to learn science, they want to be medical doctors, engineers, scientists and what have you in science field. I think the actual challenge is in the provision of the right environment for them to really learn all they need to know, that is where the role of policy makers are called into question. The same thing shows up when it comes to the differential in application of technology between the public and private sector, the gap is so wide, the later is far ahead of the former.

the truth is many Nigerian who go to the science department in school do that not because they have passion for it rather they do so because of hope of getting nice any high paying job. scientific work and projects takes time to mature. there are going to be many failures before success, the average African man do have time for that. they ready available money

You are on point, Africans do not dedicate enough time for things, its always a case of wanting results NOW and NOW! We need to start by changing that mindset. There is this common saying that, "If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at will change". That is what Africans need to do in order to start getting things right!

I don't think that's what we are as a people. I think we are a people on a mission of self discovery. We are on a learning robe but slow in our approach. I think we will surely progress with time.

Nigeria, like any other blacks all over the world are either running a syllabus of errors or are wrong students in the school of life. Imagine a student so slow in learning that his classmates are now in tertiary level while he still remains in the same primary school class. Were black people created a million years after whites?

It might be part of our learning process may be. One thing is quintessentially clear, we have raised our expectations over time as a people, we expect more from our leadership and ourselves due to our exposure and experience of what is going on in the outside world. There are several of our use to be that have fizzled away because of the latent progress that we have made. It is painful, I must admit, that we still have lots of things that we are meant to have surpassed which still hangs around us, but we have hope, though visibly unexpressed at times but it shows in what we demand of ourselves as a people, and that is where we have our commonwealth as a people, and this is where our strength lies. Hope is the self assurance that the future will turn out well, even in spite of all the negatives that showcases the contrary. And that is where and how we shall overcome. Don't forget that the civilized worlds of today where the uncivilized world of yesterday, a world they occupied for centuries. We must always have it at the back of our minds, that a great nation are built by great people, everyone of us have a role to play, both the governing and the governed. From my own perception, the governed even have more role to play on defining the nation of their dream. This they do by closely monitoring the systems and government, because it belongs to them, picking the right leadership that fits and understands the nation of their dream and doing away with the leadership that is out of touch with their dream project, forming civil rights movements and promoting ideology/policies/law that treats every citizen with fairness and asserts everyone's freedom. That is my own view of how a great nation is built and how we will get there as a people. I rest my case.

Could this news be true about the plan we have for Nigeria's nuclear future or is someone just trying to make jest about our ways of doing things?
