The popular on-air personality well known as Daddy freeze is one that has been causing a lot of uproar among pastors in Nigeria. Some Nigerians see it as the truth while others see it as blasphemy. WHO REALLY IS DADDY FREEZE?
ACTUAL NAME: His real name is Ifedayo Olarinde, but popularly known by his stage name as Daddy Freeze.
STATE OF ORIGIN: Daddy freeze is not a full blooded Nigerian, his father is from Osun State while his mother by name Smaranda Olarinde hails from Romania, Transylvania to be precise. He usually jokes sometimes that the Vampire ‘Dracula’ is his uncle. Although he was given birth to in his mother’s side, Romania, but he spent most of his life in Ibadan.
NET WORTH: his net worth currently is estimated to about $220,000, though he doesn’t live a luxurious lifestyle but in one of his interviews, he revealed his love for watches by saying he has watches worth about N32 million.
FAMILY: Freeze was initially married to Opeyemi Olarinde, but the marriage dissolved after their fight with a lot of accusations, but before the separation, she had two kids for him. Presently, he is engaged to the founder and CEO of Dietachi Foods Nig. Ltd, Benetdicta Elechi.
EDUCATION: Since most of his growing years were spent in Ibadan, Nigeria, he had his secondary education at International School, Ibadan, he also enrolled into the University of Ibadan (U.I) where he got his degree in sociology.
HOW HE STARTED
Freeze broadcasting is no longer business for him but a lifestyle, he has been it for over 20 solid years now, it all started in Romania he went there for a break in the year 1996 and went with a cousin of his to the broadcasting station where was privileged to host a kid’s programme (lasted for 3 months) which gave him the full inspiration to continue in the broadcasting business that when he came back to Nigeria, he immediately auditioned for a job at B.C.O.S located at Ibadan which was successful. He worked with because for 5 years. In the Year 2001, he started working with Cool FM (immediately he left the University), and his position there was Broadcasting and was also the production officer.
Apart from broadcasting, Freeze is also involved in some other entertainment endeavors and some of which are;

- He is the host of so many comedy shows and music concerts
- He has anchored movie premiers in several countries such as in Nigeria, Ghana, London, Ghana and Manchester among others.
- He has been given the opportunity in the past to host ‘Coca Cola mega millions’ for three seasons.
- He has had one on one interview with the ‘big boys’ in the entertainment industry, people like 2-face Idibia, Akon, Boys 2 men, Sissquo, D Banj, Lace, Charlie Boy and so on.
- He has hosted TV telecasts in the past like Multilinks, Telecoms etc.
PROMINENT AWARD WON BY DADDY FREEZE
He was the first Nigerian to win the Nickelodeon Kids choice award in the year 2014 as the ‘favorite Nigerian on air personality’ which held at Los Angeles.
There was a statement he made which shows that he is so in love with what he does, he said that “Broadcasting is not a Job anymore, it is a way of life. Put a microphone in front of me and I will start talking, Broadcasting id what I do”
