The role of a Property Solicitor is very key in real property practice in Nigeria. This is because of the presumed knowledge of property law and skills such a person must have acquired in school and practice.

It's important to note that Legal Practitioners in Nigeria practices as Solicitors as well as Barristers, whereas in England a Lawyer is either practicing as a Solicitor or Barrister. Section 2(1) of the Legal Practitioners Act, provides that a person shall be entitled to practice as a Barrister and Solicitor if and only if his name is on the roll of legal practitioners kept by the registrar of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Finally, at the end we will be able to ;

1) Identify the role of a Solicitor in real property practice.

2) Identify the responsibilities of a Solicitor in real property transactions.
