PRESS RELEASE

The governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Alhaji Moshood Adeoti has condemned in strong terms an attack on members of the party in Ilesa after the governorship mega rally held in the ancient town.
This was contained as part of his reaction to the news of the attack on his supporters while returning to their individual council areas.
According to Alhaji Adeoti, such barbaric acts ought to be condemned by all right-thinking democrats in view of its effects on the nation's democratic experience.
While warning the masterminds of the dastardly act to have a rethink, the ADP governorship candidate stressed the need for all candidates in the election not to see the contest as a do-or-die affair.
He wondered what the perpetrators of the violent attack on innocent party members stand to gain should there be casualties.
Alhaji Adeoti therefore called on officers and men of the various security agencies in the state to be more alive to their primary responsibility of ensuring security of lives and property in the state, most especially at this period when the governorship election is just few days away.
He however advised members of his party against embarking on retaliatory actions that may further worsen the already tensed situation.
It would be recalled that some members of the ADP were attacked by some hoodlums believed to be agents of a political party while returning to Osogbo after the governorship mega rally in Ilesa.
One of the victims of the attack, Mr Caleb Adisa from Erin-Osun in Irepodun Local Government Council Area of the state, suffered a deep machete cut on his left hand.
While recalling his experience, he said the bus with registration number RLG 611 XA, was about negotiating the last corner outside the town when the hoodlums numbering over 40 jumped on the road and started attacking their buses from all directions.
He stated that he was lucky to be alive as their attackers were really determined to even kill some of the party supporters.
