DO YOU HAVE THE SAME FAITH THAT THE APOSTLES HAD?

For those of us who believe in God, the faith and beliefs of the Apostles provide us with important spiritual lessons. Their faith becomes a cherished treasure in our hearts, for they believed in the gospel that holds the righteousness of God. Therefore, we all need to have such faith urgently. The Apostles’ Creed is a summary of the Apostles’ faith. The Apostles believed that the Triune God (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit) created all creatures. They believed that Jesus Christ, God the Son, saved all of mankind from their sins by coming to this world in flesh, by His BAPTISM and His CRUCIFIXION. They believe that He gives resurrection and eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven to those with faith.

The essence of such faith can be affirmed by the early church and the Apostles once again in Hebrews 6:1-2. In other words, we can affirm that the Apostles believed and preached the Word of God concerning repentance from dead works, faith toward God, the doctrine of baptism and laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment as the elementary principles of Christ. What we need to observe here is that the Apostles spread the principles of the gospel as they associated ‘the laying on of hands’ of the sacrificial system with ‘the baptism that Jesus received.’

Also, right before the Lord ascended, He commanded the disciples “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19). This is to make disciples of those who believe in Jesus’ baptism and baptize them in the name of God in three Persons. Therefore, the faith of the Apostles was established within the “gospel of the water and the Spirit”.

Unfortunately, today’s faith of Christianity is very different from the faith of the Apostles. In truth, we cannot find the faith in ‘JESUS ’ BAPTISM ’ that is so important in today’s faith of Christianity. What is worse, among theologians and preachers, there are many who deny even the divinity of Jesus.
