Isaiah 44 verse 13-22 explained how idols are made. I will paraphrase :

A man cut down trees, measure with his rule and fashioned a god from it. It cannot talk nor move.
Part of the remaining wood is used for fuel for food and warmth.
After he is warmed, he bowed down to the God he fashioned....

God's definition of idol is found in Jeremiah 10 verse 15:

" They are worthless , the object of mockery...

That is God's view of an idol.

What is man's believe?

Man believes that a god that is placed (by himself) in a shrine with some dirty looking items

such as snail shell, leopard skin and some leaves will save him from his troubles.

Some say that once man believes in a statue, it will work for him since a demon will inhabit it....

If this is true, God will not refer to these images as USELESS OBJECT OF MOCKERY.

This is a mystery :

Demons do not inhabit objects.. They live in animals and Humans. ...

ANYONE who worships idol has reduced himself from the authority of dominion placed by God almighty on humans at creation.

Since he has decided to bow down to images made of wood or metals... These are objects that are lower to man in creation ...

So, the demon that works with those statues are not in them.... THEY HAVE SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY TO INHABIT THAT MAN.

they may respond to his requests and petitions, while they inflict more pain and suffering.

In the presence of the Almighty God, Those demons are worthless.

Let me show you something in the book of Exodus 20 vs 3-6. I will paraphrase...

" Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:"

" Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them:

for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God,

visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;"
(Exodus 20: 5)

" And shewing mercy unto thousands generation of them that love me, and keep my commandments."
(Exodus 20: 6)

The Curse of idolatry is generational.... The demons are simply allowed to continue the torments even up to the fourth generation....

If you love God, his love is extended to thousands of your generation...

That is If you love God. You love God by keeping his commandments..

Which is? Do not serve any other god except me.

Let's take a case study:

Elijah and the 400 prophets of Baal.

For a Nation to worship a god, it was working for them..

Now, at the challenge, those prophets prayed and cut themselves with knives...

Until blood gushed out... This they did to get the attention of their gods....

What went wrong with them? Why the silence?

Those demons couldn't stand where the almighty God was.. Hence they couldn't respond

What does this tell us?

No child of God will be tormented by the demons..

Note the word CHILD OF GOD...

THEY CAN'T STAND THE PRESENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

are you an idol worshiper? This is how useless your god is...

It will only grant your request with evil and torments your offspring even up to the fourth generation!!!!

Mark 16 vs 15....."This sign shall follow them that believe... They will cast out demons...

They will simply cast out your gods.....

Apostle Paul got into prison with Silas because he cast out the demon that was responsible for divination in a girl...

The owners of the girl got angry and accused Paul...

What can we learn from this?

1. I told you earlier that the gods inhabit humans..

2. That girl could predict accurately because of demon in her.

That thing that is answering your request is a demon... You get to suffer from it, you and your generations

3. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, that demon left the girl..

Why not come to him with higher power? Uh?

Now, let's look at the consequences of idolatry..

Before studying about the consequences of idolatry,

You should know who an idolater is..

Anyone who worships idol or seek help from any other gods is an idolater.

Consequences of idolatry...

1. Death.

The children of Israel took all theit gold chains and forced Aaron to make a calf for them.

Aaron then proclaimed and said.. "Behold your god which brought you out of Egypt "

Really? Which brought you out of Egypt?

Na wah ooo.

God got angry and wanted to wipe all of them out. Moses pleaded and God had mercy.

3000 men died that day.

Psalm 16 vs 4 :

The sorrows of those will increase who run after other gods.

Did you see that?

Your sorrow increases as you run after other gods.. Not only you.. Your generations inclusive.

The children of Israel were driven out of Canaan (the promise land) because of idolatry .

Israel (the ten tribes) were carried away into exile by the Assyrians...Till today they are still scattered around the world.

Judah refused to learn from this and The Babylonians came and took them to exile...

Moral of the story

God's promise in one's life can be annulled by idolatry.. ..

Idolatry scattered Gods people around the world for over 2000 years...

It brings sorrow to one's life and his generation...

It makes one to be exposed to demonic possession...

God Almighty is the only true God...

Idols are not reliable....

Rely on God today and he will be your God...

Great thread. Idols are backward. They may reach out to you and pretend to be working for you but will always lead their followers to destruction.

God Almighty is to be served only.

Demons are behind gods .

They bring nothing but destruction.

2. The second consequences of idolatry is lack of peace.

The lack of peace comes as a result of the torments by the demons.

There is no peace for the wicked says the Lord.

3. Exposure to demonic possession. If we serve God, he dwells in us. If you worship the demons, they dwell in you.

Solution to the consequences of idolatry.
1. Ask God for mercy with a genuine heart

2. Do away with your idol and associated things. Never go back to it again

3. Invite the holy spirit to dwell in you. Study the word of God and practice everything in it.

If you seek help from any idolater and collect charms, bracelets, or any item from them,

YOU ARE AN IDOLATER.

Demons are responsible for generational curses.

Idolatry is responsible for generational curses.

Don't have anything to do with idols....

God almighty is enough for you and I.

Stay away from charms, bracelets from idols and foods that are sacrificed to gods.

When you do idolatry, you get in the bad book of the Almighty.

He that created the heaven and the earth wonders why..

He lives you with your gods (demons).

They pretend to offer solution while they afflict you in turn, you and your generation.

Repent and avoid calamity and woe; Serving the gods bring these to mankind.

Do not take bracelets, amulet or anything from idols.

Do not worship images.

If you do, you are making for yourself, a very powerful and universal enemy: The Almighty God.

If you don't worship God Almighty,

Then you will worship the devil.

There is no sitting on the fence.

If God is not the one answering your prayers, then the demons are responsible.

There is no good in evil

Demons do not live in statues.. They control the life of the idolaters and make them think so.

No knowing that the demons live in them ...and that they control their lives, the idolaters think that they are in control.

This is deception.

When God takes over a life, he urges one to surrender all to him.... since he (God) needs to take control...

This is freedom.

Surrender all to Jesus and have control.

God bless you.

You bow down to trees. You put your trust in charms made of leaves...

You have swapped your place in authority...
God said you will dominate all these things...
Genesis 1 Vs 27-28.
...consequently, you have been striped of your authority..
The demons will possess you... and torment your generations...

Unfortunately, they do this without mercy.
Come back to the almighty God who is your source of authority.
Come to Jesus.

Worship God alone and give glory to his holy name
