Juventus Star Douglas Costa today spat at the mouth of Sassuolo ace Federico Di Francesco after a clash between them.

Cristiano had scored his first two goals for Juventus but Sassuolo scored one back late on.

And after the goal, Di Francesco and Costa came together and the Juventus winger headbutted the Sassuolo player.

Then moments later, the two players came together again and Costa spat at Di Francesco’s face.

The incident was referred to VAR and Costa was sent off by the referee.

The Brazilian could now be set for a lengthy ban.

Costa had only been on the pitch for 30 minutes having come on as a substitute for Mario Mandzukic.

The incident marred the match for Ronaldo, who broke his goalscoring duck for his new club in the second half.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri was asked about Costa's actions in his post-match interview with Sky Italia.

Allegri replied: 'Maybe he was irritated ata foul before, but it doesn't matter, because this absolutely must not happen. The one thing we must avoid doing is falling for provocation,' the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

'We could've scored a third goal, but instead we started to play as individuals, we tried to dribble past everyone, this wound up the opposition, who then reacted badly and you get to situations like Douglas Costa.'
