It is no longer a news that many states in Nigeria are so poor that it has become a norm for them not to be able to pay salaries for months.

While it is factual to blame the thieving politicians, it is not completely true that, if they refuse to loot the common treasury, that they will be able to meet up with their financial responsibilities to the people.

Most Nigerians are yet to accept the reality that Nigeria is not a poor country but a very very wretched country.

A country of over 180m people that generates less than a dollar per citizen can not make lots of progress.

For Nigeria or any state to enjoy a reasonable level of comfort, Nigeria or Any of her States must be able to generate at least $10 per citizen or indigene on a daily basis.

Therefore, it will be wise that government at respective levels, first and foremost build a solid IGR from:

1) direct and indirect involvement in Business/Investment ventures within and outside Nigeria.

2) tax gotten from government seeded & watered Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) just as Joseph did in Genesis 47: 23 - 26.

Genesis 47: 23 - 26

23) Joseph said to the people, “Now that I have bought you and your land today for Pharaoh, here is seed for you so you can plant the ground.

24) But when the crop comes in, give a fifth of it to Pharaoh. The other four-fifths you may keep as seed for the fields and as food for yourselves and your households and your children.”

25) “You have saved our lives,” they said. “May we find favor in the eyes of our lord; we will be in bondage to Pharaoh.”

26 So Joseph established it as a law concerning land in Egypt—still in force today—that a fifth of the produce belongs to Pharaoh. It was only the land of the priests that did not become Pharaoh’s.

Summary:

Currently there are over 50m SE/SS people residing in SE/SS only which excludes those living outside their ancestral homeland.

The various governments must work towards generating $500m daily in order to get everyone out of poverty as quickly as possible.

This can be quickly achieved by

1) Technical Education in electronics, mechatronics, chemical, material science, material engineering, material technology etc fields of study.

2) Business grants that can help nurture SMEs that can be taxed after 10years of business operations.

3) Economic tax havens to attract foreign firms with the hope that the good salary jobs & technological transfers that will get to our people, will translate to indigenous wealth creation.

4) Direct & Indirect involvement in business/investment ventures within and outside the shores of Nigeria.
