Dear sons and daughters who mean well for Odogbolu please read this. It is a bit long but it is important. Odogbolu is one of the greatest Ijebu towns as every son of Odogbolu claims eagerly!

It is home to many influential people who have in one way or the other contributed to the status of Nigeria as the giant of Africa. We have produced vice presidents, attorney generals, and occupied top positions in Ogun State (in the past, at least) and in the government of many other states (currently) but it is really time to look at ourselves and examine where we are presently.

Those who know political history say Odogbolu, as a town, has never produced a member of the House of Assembly in Ogun State or member of the House of Representatives representing Ijebu Central Federal Constituency. An investigation into this strange situation reveals a very disturbing trend! For selfish reasons, some sons and daughters of Odogbolu will rather support an outsider than someone from the town itself. It’s a situation that has seen lesser towns claim seats in the House of Assembly and House of Representatives to the detriment of Odogbolu.

Obviously, our problem has never been a lack of quality aspirants/candidates but our unwillingness to learn from the examples of other towns –in Ijebu Ode and Ijebu North East- that ‘no matter how poor your child is at dancing, you will not buy dancing shoes for another man’s child. In Odogbolu though, the case is that dancing shoes are being bought and given to another man’s child though we have children who are better dancers.

Let’s narrow this down to the real issue –the slot for the House of Representatives in the Ijebu Central Federal Constituency. From Ijebu Ode to Ijebu North East, and all wards in Odogbolu local government, the consensus is that it is the turn of Odogbolu town, and Odogbolu local government to produce the next representative. The good news is that these listed places and their people are lining up behind one of Odogbolu’s illustrious sons, Otunba Abayomi Adewale Badejo, and see him as the hope of the hopeless as well as the one we have all been waiting for. They are eagerly claiming him as their own and he, in turn, has shown them what it means to care for the people. Long before the call to serve, Badejo has been doing a lot for Odogbolu town and its people. In the last 20 years, he has been bearing their pains, carrying their burdens and sharing in their joys.

Yet it is in this same town that we have those who are championing the cause of other people’s children. Unfortunately, they go as far as spreading lies in order to see through their anti-Odogbolu ambition. The rumours that Governor Amosun had selected a consensus candidate for Ijebu Central Federal Constituency were started by these very sons and daughters of Odogbolu just because an aspirant has promised them cars. They also claim Badejo had been disqualified, stepped down, did not obtain the forms, etc but all these are lies.

Here are the facts:

1. Governor Amosun announced that consensus candidates had been reached for six constituencies in Ogun state but three were inconclusive. Among the three is Ijebu Central Federal Constituency for which Honourable Abayomi Adewale Badejo is contesting to represent. Governor Amosun’s final order at the Presidential Lodge on Tuesday 11, September 2018 at about 5pm was that ‘the aspirants in the remaining three constituencies should go and prove their acceptance by their people at the direct primaries.’
2. Badejo was not disqualified. Here is a man who knows and values the party structure, has been caring for the party and holds its leaders/elders in high regards. He is not capable of doing anything -knowingly or unknowingly- to harm the party and its members.
3. Badejo has not stepped down. He is head above shoulders higher than all the other aspirants. None of them has cared for the people or the party as much as Badejo –past or present. If they have, Atunse Odogbolu dares them to give us proofs of their activities in the last fifteen years.
4. Badejo obtained his forms and properly submitted them to the national secretariat of the party. The implication of this is that Badejo is ready and willing to meet any aspirant on the field where one’s personality and deeds will be the criteria for getting the ‘aye’ or ‘nay’ of the people. Badejo has toured every ward, touched many lives and it is the fear of meeting him on a level playing field that has led to such rumours being carried around.

We are happy that contrary to the selfish expectations of some people, His Excellency, Governor Ibikunle Amosun directed all aspirants in Ijebu Central Federal Constituency to go to direct primaries. Let those who think they have been fair to the people take up their cutlass and enter the farmland. At the end of the day, we will see who God has ordained to save the people and who is merely making deceptive promises as well as giving out pitiful handouts just to deceive people into selling to him their mandate.

To the people who have decided to give away their birthright because of mere promises of cars or other material things, please remember the future of your children. What we pray for is that Odogbolu should be rubbing shoulders with places like Sagamu, Ijebu Ode, Abeokuta, in terms of facilities. If you go against Badejo just because of what you alone will gain, OSI Odogbolu will judge you and posterity will examine you. Support another man’s son if you will but do not tell lies about your own son. Stop the rumours. And remember, there were aspirants who promised many material things in the past and even gave cheques (the cheques bounced like fẹ́lẹ̀lẹ̀ football) but they were deceived and disappointed.

To the good people of Odogbolu, ‘Àtuńṣe Ìlú Odogbolu ti di kókó’ and we must all join hands to see it done.

Support Badejo for the House of Representatives!

Get your membership cards!

Attend unit and ward meetings!

Let us take what is ours and give the dancing shoes to our own son not just because he knows how to dance but he is the best dancer on the stage.

OSI Odogbolu A Gbe Wa O!

GOD BLESS APC!

GOD BLESS BADEJO!

GOD BLESS ODOGBOLU!

GOD BLESS OGUN STATE!

GOD BLESS THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA!
