“Make Impact” is a message by Senior Pastor of House on The Rock Church, Pastor Paul Adefarasin in his “Something is about to happen” series.

“Salt is good: but if the salt has lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.”

We are salts

The next half of your life must be the best half of your life. It is not worthwhile if you’re investing so much energy, yet not making much impact. In Mark 9;50, Jesus teaches that the body of believers are the salt of the earth and he informs us that a little bit of salt will have such great and powerful effect. The salt is powerful in that it has preservation and powers. It has the ability to change things. In calling us salt, it means that we are keeping something from deteriorating.

We are designed to make an impact

Are you impactful or just energetic? At times, we get tired when we do so much, and we don’t get enough result. It's about organisation. If we are not organised, we waste our lives. If we’re going to be effective, we have to learn the measuring systems that God has provided for measuring impact otherwise we’ll end up depressed at some stage in life. When you don't do what you are designed for, it's called suppression. You're suppressing who you are. You're depressing who you are; you are designed to be fruitful, impactful and productive.

Saying “no”

One of the things about the most influential people on earth is the power to say no. When we become committed to everything, it is usually at the expense of our primary purpose and the primary calling upon our lives. We have to learn to feel better and more obedient to God. Stop being a messiah, because everytime you say “yes” to everything and everyone, you are sapping your energy, depleting your strength, defusing your focus and killing your ability to be laser sharp and powerful. Teach people to respect your specialisation.

Invest your energy

You have to learn where you invest your time, energy and how to determine your investment by the impact you desire to make, so you invest based on the endgame which is the impact that you intend to create. We must learn to invest energy into areas where we are most impactful. When you invest energy in the wrong areas, you do so to the detriment of the areas where you could be effective, fruitful, most productive and most impactful. So you need to stop investing your energy in things that don't do good. Do what you do well, do what gives you impact that when you do it, it changes people, the atmosphere and the status quo. Impact has everything to do with perspectives. The internet as a technology has given us the opportunity for impact. Don’t waste and misuse it.
