Shaytaan is a crafty enemy, he is keen to misguide people and to make them doubt. The more you seek the help of Allah, learn about your enemy and be prepared to face him, the more you will be victorious over him.

FACTS ABOUT SHAYTAAN

* Shaytaan has offspring. Q 18:50

* He shares with man wealth and children. Q17:64 Q55:56, Tafseer al-Qurtubi, 10/289. Some of the scholars said that Allaah created a penis on his right thigh and a vagina on his left thigh, so he impregnates himself in this manner and ten eggs are laid every day, from each of which emerge seventy male and female devils. Adwaa’ al-Bayaan, 4/133-135. Many of the mufassireen said that also included in the Shaytaan’s share of wealth and children is neglecting to say Bismillaah when eating, drinking or having intercourse; IF ONE DOES NOT SAY BISMILLAAH WHEN DOING THOSE THINGS, THE SHAYTAAN HAS A SHARE IN THEM, as was mentioned in the hadeeth. Tayseer al-Kareem al-Rahmaan, p. 414, Majmoo’ al-Fataawa, 13/333-337

* He is the father of all of the jinn, both the believing and disbelieving ones among them. He is their origin and they are his offspring. Q55:15, Q7:12, Q18:50. This view was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas, Mujaahid, Qataadah, al-Hasan al-Basri and others. Tafseer al-Tabari (1/507) and al-Durr al-Manthoor (5/402), Majmoo’ al-Fataawa by ibn Taymia, 4/346, 235, Fath al-Baari(6/369), Majmoo’ al-Fataawa by Ibn Baz (9/370-371), Fataawa Noor ‘ala al-Darb by Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (al-Jinn wa’l-Shayaateen, question no. 2)

* Allah commanded Iblees to prostrate to Adam (peace be upon him), but he refused and was arrogant, and was one of the kafirs (disbelievers). So, Allah expelled him from His mercy, and cursed him until the Day of Judgement. Q2:34, Q15:30-35

* He asked for a respite until the Day of Resurrection, and Allah granted him that. Q15:36-38

* He was certain that he is one of those who are doomed, as well as his being arrogant and being ungrateful to his Lord, he resolved to mislead whomever he could of the slaves of Allah, so that they would be with him in Hell. Q15:39, 40

* He is eager to mislead and corrupt, so as to increase the numbers of his followers and worshippers among the doomed who will share his fate. He will not leave any way of filling Hell with the progeny of Adam (peace be upon him) but he will pursue it. Q7:16-17, Muslim (2033).

* He knows that his destination is the Fire, and he hopes to take everyone else with him to Hell, out of envy, hatred, kufr (disbelief) and stubbornness.

* He hates mankind, who are the children of Adam (peace be upon him), and he is hostile towards them because he is cursed and has been banished from the mercy of Allah because of his refusal to prostrate to their father Adam (peace be upon him).

* Allah and His Messenger warned us against him: “Indeed, Shaytaan is to you an enemy, so take him as an enemy.”Q 35:6. “Shaytaan threatens you with poverty and commands you with evil and obscene deeds.” Q 2:267. “Indeed, Shaytaan is an open and manifest enemy to mankind.” Q12:5. “If any does follow the footsteps of Shaytaan he will but command the evil and obscene.” Q 24:21. “Shaytaan has made their actions alluring to them and has prevented them from the path.” Q 27:24. ‘Did I not command you, O Children of Adam, that you should not worship Shaytaan (Satan). Verily, he is a plain enemy to you’ Q36:6. ‘O mankind! Eat of that which is lawful and good on the earth, and follow not the footsteps of Shaytaan (Satan). Verily, he is to you an open enemy’ Q2:168‘O you who believe! Follow not the footsteps of Shaytaan (Satan). And whosoever follows the footsteps of Shaytaan (Satan), then, verily, he commands Al-Fahsha’ [i.e. to commit indecency (illegal sexual intercourse)], and Al-Munkar [disbelief and polytheism (i.e. to do evil and wicked deeds; and to speak or to do what is forbidden in Islam)]’ Q24:21 etc

Shaytaan is present with one of you in all of his affairs until he is present with him while he takes his food. Muslim. There is none amongst you except that there has been appointed to him a Qareen (companion) from among the jinn (in another narration “Shaytaan”) and a Qareen from the angels. Sahih al-Jami’, no 5676, Sahih al-Jami’, no.5677. Iblis has placed his throne above the water and then he sends his detachments. The closest of them to him are those who cause the greatest trial. One of them comes back to him and says: ‘I did such and such.’ Shaytaan replies: ‘You have not done anything.’ Then another comes to him and says: ‘I did not leave him alone until I caused division between him and his wife.’ So Shaytaan brings him closer to himself and says: ‘You did well.’ ” Muslim. Indeed, Shaytaan flows in the son of ‘Adam like blood.” Bukhari, Muslim and others. Take a nap / siesta as Shaytaan does not take a rest. at-Tabarani in al-Awsat and Abu Na’im in at-Tibb. Shaykhal-Albani declared it hasan in Sahih al-Jami’, no. 4307

* He does not need anyone to whisper to him, because he is the source of all evil.

* He has no power over those who believe Q16:98-100

* He was present at the battle of Badr, he appeared in the form of Suraaqah ibn Maalik. But when he saw angels he turned and fled. Q8:48, at-Tabaraani in his Tafseer (13/7), al-Mu‘jam al-Kabeer (5/47), Majma‘ az-Zawaa’id (6/82), Maalik in al-Muwatta’ (944)

* He is never seen on any day smaller, more humiliated, more defeated and angrier than on the day of ‘Arafah, because of what he sees of the descent of mercy and forgiveness for sins, except what he saw on the day of Badr.

* In Ramadan, the gates of heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and every Shaytaan mareed is chained up. al-Bukhari 3277, Muslim 1079.An-Nasaa’i (2108), classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh an-Nasaa’i , Sharh az-Zarqaani ‘ala Muwatta’ al-Imam Maalik (3/137), Majmoo‘ al-Fataawa (25/246).

* He, other Jinns and humans, have free will and freedom of choice, to obey Allah or to disobey Him Q18:29, Q76:3

* The devils (shayaateen plural of Shaytaan) are the kuffaar (disbelievers) of the jinn. Shayaateen are from among the jinn. They are the rebellious ones and the evilest among them, just as the evil doers and kaafir among mankind are the rebellious ones Q6:112, Q18:50

* Every person has a Shaytaan and an angel with him as constant companions (Qareen). Muslim 2814.

* The Shaytaan inspires man to evil and calls man to evil. There are times when he has control over man’s heart and can find out, by Allaah’s decree, what a person intends to do of good or evil.

* There are also times when the angel has control over a person’s heart. He makes him incline towards good and calls him to good.
The believer suppresses his Shaytaan by obeying Allaah and adhering steadfastly to His religion, so he humiliates his Shaytaan until he becomes weak and unable to stop the believer doing good or make him fall into evil, except what Allaah wills.

* The sinner, by his disobedience and evil actions, gives his Shaytaan the strength to make him do evil and encourages him to do evil, and discourage him from doing good.

* The believer has to fear Allaah and strive against his Shaytaan by obeying Allaah and His Messenger and seeking refuge with Allaah from the Shaytaan. And he should strive to defeat Shaytaan by obeying Allaah and His Messenger and heeding the commands of Allaah.

* Muslims help their brothers among the Jinn to obey Allaah and His Messenger just as they help their human brothers by teaching and reminding other humans, for the jinn may attend the lessons of humans in the mosques and elsewhere and benefit from them. Q 46:29-30, Q72:1

* A Jinn may make himself visible in human form to some people when pointing them towards something good or something evil.

* The fate of the Shaytaan on the Day of Resurrection will be the worst and most horrible of fates Q38:82-85, Q58:19

* Shaytaan will disown his followers on the Day of Resurrection and everyone who followed him will regret it, when regret will be of no avail. Q14:22 Usool al-Deen al-Islami by Shaykh Muhammad ibn Ibraaheem al-Tuwaijri

Yes... Shaytaan is everywhere in our mist but A true believer of Almighty Allah will never be outgrowth by the Jins and Shaytaan. May we always be tools use by Almighty Allah but not his cast shaytaan.. Amin

Shaytaan is not a fallen Angel but a kufar Jinn as clarified by Allah (SWT) in Surah Kahf.
