I do this to one of my workers. An I know this will help if you can do it. First you have to teach he/she to talks slowly. Anytime he/she wanted to talk. You have to tell he/she too wait and relax ,then he/she to start it talking one by one slowly. I do this for someone and it work. So all is for you now to do your part. Trust me

let him use snail shell as his water cup for 3months, i mean to be drinking water with it, wash it very well, i mean those big snail. or you can also let him be, he will stop as time goes on. mine was worst, but it was the snail shell method i use.

You need a specialist.A speech therapist or a gifted amateur.I'm not one, but I could offer some advice, as I've worked in such environments.

At OP do not mind the jobless youths and kids on this forum. This is the best time to encourage your kid. I stammered too when i was very young and instead of parents and siblings to assist me overcome it i was mocked. This caused me to struggle with my self esteem. Thank fully I have out grown it and more and more confident in each passing day. I still stammer a lil tho but its under control.

Solution:

Correct your child with love and tell him to take a deep breath and repeat the word slowly. Scold anyone who mocks him. Also, let him mix alot with his peers and kids activities such as sunday school acting, singing etc

He should talk less, try not to get angry easily, most importantly talk slowly... Lastly pray to your God..!

As a stammerer,I don't think my parent or family did much to help me. Though,I always heard it repeatedly from them that I should talk slowly etc but all used to sound like mocking to me. Belief me,I lost my confidence especially to the opposite sex. It wasn't easy. While growing older,truly,talking slowly helps but some words will just be stubborn,they won't come. lol. Even till now.
To be candid with you,while an undergraduate,I took my issue to praying o,Lols. Though as I grow older I become better. Now,I still stammer but we can live together for 2months without u noticing,but immediately I get angry,u notice o. Now,talking slowly and sometimes,say what u want to say silently before speaking helps alot.

My sister of mine whom her son started stammering always tried to caution the son every time,the child too is better. E.g.,if he wanted to tell something to his mum and he started stammering,d mum would sent hem back that he should go and practise what he wanted to say first. The child is now is SS1 and he speaks better now.

Good day Ma. I've experienced it. I don't know how deep your son's own is but given his age, he's trainable.

Most times stuttering comes
1. When one's feelings are imbalanced (anger or anxiety)
2. The urge to say everything at once with out a break.

However, engage your child more often & when you do, make sure it's on matters where his response will not be over stretched. This way, he learns to be brief, positions his mind to be brief in response & where it needs to go far overtime, he can control his speech.

I believe in all it's care & friendly interaction. By the way, his stammering, is it constant or on certain occasions & with certain people?

I was a CHRONIC stammerer in my early years.
It grew so bad that I'll have to beat myself with my right or left hand before I could utter a word.

I'm in my early twenties now...and it has reduced 'BIG BIG'. I learnt that it decreases as one grows...



But....,




It's not sometimes funny or smooth whenever I'm annoyed o...

I dey scatter everywhere ni.!

Though, I've seen older people that are still chronic stammerers sha....

I used to stammer While I was younger shouting wont help, instead it will make him/she scared of you and the stammering will get worse, be patient and always make him play with sharp kids, I think I stammered because I was always indoor and I'm always quite I still stammer when I get angry... Sometimes I think first and talk fastly to avoid stammering especially when I want to greet someone

Guide him on how to speak gently but not necessarily slowly. He should not rush when speaking but take his time. Preferably, use the axiom: "No one is rushing you, take your time".

Get him quality articles; newspapers, journals, books etc. to improve his vocabularies. He should participate in more public speaking, debates and anything that requires him to speak to an audience. Eat nutritiously so as to enable the brain develop properly in every ramification. It'd take time though but it's possible for him to stop stammering.

Op, Make your child love you and NOT fear you.

It's the fear, he has towards you and possibly his teachers in school, maybe they beat him with cane every time, that's why he stammers.

Stammer is caused by Fear and mockery when he's trying to say some words.

Show him more love and make him become calm and at ease in your presence. With time, he will relax and stop stammering. Hug him often and teach him to breathe deep and be calm before saying anything. Anyone who laughs at him should be rebuked on the spot. With time he will overcome it.

Op try the snail shell method. Don't see it as fetish or anything. It's going to work.. At most one month of usage and observe the difference.


Secondly.
Try to find out more about his school eviron like the teachers and students alike. If possible change the current school and start building up his self esteem and show more love and care. always take things calm.

Be patient with the child. do not mock him instead correct and help him. Buy him lots of books to read to increase his vocabulary. this is necessary as he will have an array of words to choose from when he is talking. Pray daily for him as a parents's duty to a child and with time he will improve. Please don't believe the slapping therapy. it will make the child live in fear and worsen the situation.
