The purpose of NEF Africa Science Week is to promote the discovery of science and technology in Africa and the rest of the world and encourage participation in coordinated science events across the continent.
NEF Africa Science Week will be Africa’s annual three to six-day celebration of science and technology and thousands of individuals – from students, to scientists to technologists – to encourage citizens to get involved, participate in the NEF 1mil1 campaign and become interested in science all across the continent. Led by NEF Ambassadors, this signature program is designed for many age groups and provides an opportunity for citizens to engage in everyday science. The program is designed to instill a curiosity of learning and interest in STEM pursuits among the public and allows young Africans, especially women, to acknowledge that they, too, can become excellent scientists and technologists. NEF Ambassadors will be responsible for fundraising some of the event funds locally (the aim is to get local buy in and support).
The Africa science week will be held in September and October 2018 in 33 African countries and organized and led by NEF ambassadors.

The proposed events for the NEF Africa Science Week in Nigeria are:
1. Science debate competition among ten selected schools in the six area councils in Federal Capital Territory.
2. STEM boot-camp workshop for students from 30 selected secondary schools in Federal Capital Territory.
3. Women in Science talk -show/ Cocktail Award Night focused on Nigerian women who have made significant strides in science and technology pursuits in Nigeria.
4. STEM road show which will involve interactive stands and displays from industry partners who will provide sessions for students to learn the scientific basis undergirding their products and innovations. The STEM road shows are designed to take place in rural areas of the country.
5. Science expo where at least twenty companies will be invited to showcase various products and processes tailored towards secondary school students.

In celebration of the 2018 Next Einstein Forum's African Science Week in Nigeria, Next Einstein Forum(NEF) in collaboration with African Center for Innovation and Leadership Development(ACILD) presents the Women in Science Talk show/Award night.

CHAMPIONS OF SCIENCE STORYTELLING CHALLENGE: AFRICAN SCIENCE WEEK
Through the “Champions of Science Storytelling Challenge – Africa Science Week Edition” we aim to showcase the contributions of the talented and passionate researchers and entrepreneurs from Africa, to build public engagement and support for science, and inspire the next generation to pursue scientific fields that will have the potential to drive Africa’s socio-economic transformation.
The Africa Science Week Edition of the Challenge is open specifically to attendees of the 2018 Africa Science Week conference. You must attend at least one Africa Science Week event to be eligible.

The 2018 Nef's African Science Week in Nigeria is schedule for October 23 - 26, 2018.
