Hello Nairalanders.
I created this thread for the sake of honest and candid reviews on Natural skin care remedies such as Shea butter, kernel oil, honey and so on.
The information you provide could save the life of someone. Please feel free to share your info.

All the products I use on my skin are organic(from head to toe) I buy my body lotion(shea butter-base), black soap, body scrub, body butter... From @princess naturals on IG. She is a trusted brand and doesn't do bleaching. Also, over the years,I have noticed that most of these organic skincare companies don't really stick to the principles of organic skincare (talking about using harsh chemicals and still tagging the products as organic) and that is why I trust @princess naturals because I am sure her products are 100 per cent organic and standards are not been patronised.
On my own(DIY skincare routine) I sometimes prepare a turmeric, milk, honey, coffee mixture which I use as body scrub(that is if I am out of supply and short on cash to purchase from my vendor) whenever tomatoes are in season, I buy some fresh and juicy ones, squeeze out the juice, add some honey and apply on my skin 30 minutes before bath...this makes the skin lush and extra flawless. I use bentonite clay sometimes to exfoliate... For my hair shampoo, I melt some of my princes naturals black soap, add some bentonite clay(optional) and some almond oil for moisture... Believe you me, this combo makes my hair and scalp squeaky clean and tackles dandruff...

The benefits of this routine is obvious because my skin feels like butter, flawless, the glow can make a blind man see(lol). I can go out without makeup because there is no flaw to cover...

If you are serious go and see a dermatologist, because of creams most creams contain neprotoxic compounds that at times are not indicated in the ingredients

I am sure you are talking about over-the-counter skincare products. I know of some organic brands that don't use harsh chemicals...that is why they are called organic...well unless if you are saying Shea butter, almond oil... Contain neprotoxic compounds

Yea, shea butter darkens me as well.

It is best used at night. Most people complain of getting dark because they use it at daytime and you know how harsh our weather can be.

Me personally I use lemon honey sugar scrub to exfoliate. I use my Diy organic lotion with my body talking oil at night, it gives me that glow

On the shelf creams/lotions are no longer as effective... You can make your own scrubs, lotion and cream... Mind you, it doesn't bleach, it is purely organic... Your skin should glow at least and not be dull wether black or fair...
Do u have uneven skin tone? Exfoliate
Do u have dry skin? Moisturize
Do u have acne/pimples? Get an acne or face organic cream
Do u have dull skin? Take vitamin Supplements and drink lots of water

If you are interested in making your own lotion/cream and scrubs, pm me... If you are in need of organic ingredients like essential oils and co. , you can also pm me... There is a limit to what I can say here

Most over the counter products in Nigeria are fake, laced with dangerous chemicals and all sorts.... Organic products is just the way out. My skin hasn't been this beautiful all thanks to my vendor (princess naturals) and my DIY routine

Exactly, the name organic has been bastardized, and i think one major contributing factor is the lack of a regulatory body, anybody can just copy some recipe and google and start claiming Skincare formulator. That is when you will see “7 days organic whitening lotion” like seriously grin that should send a strong alarm to the buyer that it’s laden with harsh chemicals but it’s sad everybody wants to turn wily wily overnight. I preach health over Beauty anyday and patronize certified formulators/therapist.

I mask when I have active acne twice a week and exfoliate when it’s not active so as not to aggravate it. My daily routine is cleanse-tone-moisturize and I use sunscreen during the day especially as harmattan is setting in and it’s a period most people suffer hyperpigmentation and sunburns.

Also we should be careful with diys, not all diy is for everyone. Clay like bentonite might not be the best option for someone with a dry skin type, Fuller earth and oatmeal are more soothing.

Good, you’re looking for skin care.

But I advise you’re careful with the suggestions and products you take and use, considering that your skin texture and body composition is unique to you and you’ll need a professional to first examine your status and prescribe the best matching products.

No go spoil your skin wey you still dey manage oooo.

Most people tends to look towards skin tone rather than skin type. It’s better to be careful than sorry.

Before you buy any product for your skin. You've to know your skin type(very important). That's why you hear my skin reacted to this or that or I bought this product and is not working.
And remember, there's nothing you put on your skin that will work unless you exfoliate, it helps to remove dead cells etc or maybe you want to bleach
You can Google skin types.
I'm here if you change your mind grin and no is not only cream that Oriflame have.

Right now.. My evening skin care routine is very simple.
I steam my face 3 times a week with a mixture of apple cider vinegar and hot water.

*After steaming, i just dip my towel in the mixture and dab it all over my face.

* Then I apply this red native soap they sell in clear nylon In the market. Apply it all over the face too and leave it for about 15 minutes.

*I rinse off with warm water (the acv mixture) then apply my ori to my dried face and sleep like a baby. It has actually been working quite well for me.

OP btw cheesy

You are very correct. I was told that some organic skincare specialists use relaxer in some of their products (bleaching creams) that is why we all have to be careful. On instagram for instance, I can only vouch for 3 vendors that I am sure deal with organics only. All those that promise quick action lace their products with steroids...
The regulatory body thing can't work yet because all those mixing relaxer and steroids would be suspended or called to order. Also, a regulatort body may want to regulate the price of products and that may not sit well again...
In my own opinion, the DIY routines are effective. What I shared earlier was just my routine( I have oily skin so all those DIys are Safe to use.) However, it's potency is dependent on the kind of skin that one has. For example, someone with sensitive
and dry skin has no business using Lime or Lemon on the face as that can result to dryness, itchiness and burns, body masks, scrubs etc that contain lime or lemon should only be used at night,etc... Knowing the DIYs that works for you and sticking to it can be refreshingly rewarding...
CTM(cleanse, tone and moisturize) should be every lady's anthem. That is the secret to having is beautiful skin. Sunscreens should be used even when the sun isn't out. Most ladies have dull, tired and aged skin and that is because they don't use sunscreen...

I mix 1tablespoon of both Tumeric powder And Honey in a bowl to make a paste....This mix is enough to cover my face. Both ingredients are Natural.
N.B....Please don't apply close to your hair as tumeric can lead to breaking of hair if it comes in contact.
