FUOYE VC FAULTS ASUU OVER ALLEGED PENSION FRAUD CLAIMS, OTHERS
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Kayode Soremekun has reacted to the allegations laid against him by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). He urged the union to be detailed in their investigation before raising accusations that would dent the image of the institution system.

While reacting to the allegations on Wednesday, Soremekun noted that the university as an ivory tower must show good examples by disseminating information that adds values to the society.

LASU CONFIRMS DISMISSAL OF THREE LECTURERS OVER SEXUAL ASSAULT OF STUDENTS
The Lagos State University (LASU) has terminated the appointment of three senior lecturers for sexual harassment of female students in their departments.

The confirmation was disclosed by the university’s spokesman, Mr. Ademola Adekoya on Tuesday.

According to him, the decision to sack the lecturers was taken by LASU Governing Council after its 119th statutory meeting on October 4, as recommended by the Joint Council/Senate (Academic) Disciplinary Committee.

WAEC Vows to Publish Names of Candidates Involved in Exam Malpractices
The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has vowed to publish names of students involved in examination malpractice in the country due to the high rate of impersonation as a form of exam malpractice.

The exam body made this known in a statement by its head, Public Affairs, Mr. Demianus Ojijeogu on Wednesday, October 10, 2018.

According to the statement, the decision was part of the 66th Nigerian Examinations Committee, of WAEC’s resolution held at Ogba Lagos.

Emir Of Kano Urges FG to Institute Mother Tongue Policy in Schools
The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II has called on the Federal Government to institute a policy that allows the use of local languages to teach in Nigerian schools.

The Emir made this call during the two-day Northern Nigeria Traditional Leaders Conference on Out-of-School Children in Kaduna on Wednesday, October 10, 2018.

Speaking during the conference, Sanusi noted that the use of English Language in teaching has contributed to low educational development in the country adding the national policy on education that allows the English language as a means of communication in classrooms is defective and responsible for low assimilation among students.

UBEC to Disburse N142.58 Billion to Support Educational Growth in Kaduna
The Universal Basic Education Commission Board (UBEC) has said it will disburse the sum of N142.58 billion to support educational growth in Kaduna state.



This was disclosed by the Minister of education, Mallam Adamu Adamu during the opening of a two-day Northern Nigerian Traditional Leaders Conference on Drop Out students in Kaduna on Wednesday, October 10, 2018.

The conference was organized by Federal Ministry of Education, Universal Basic Education Commission, National Commission for Mass Education and Sultan Foundation for Peace and Development, in collaboration with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
