International Breweries restructures following Intafact, Pabod merger
Nnaemeka Achebe, Obi of Onitsha becomes board chairman
International Breweries Plc. has announced a restructuring of its new entity, following the merger of Intafact Beverages Limited and Pabod Breweries Limited.

The merger, which became effective 13 November 2017, necessitated the representation of the merged companies to be reflected on the board of the new entity.

The board of directors was thus restructured to reflect the appointment of Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha, as the new chairman of its board of directors.

A brief profile on Achebe, made available by the company, revealed that the Obi had a 30-year career with the royal dutch shell petroleum group of companies in Nigeria and overseas.

“He was the chairman of Diamond Bank Plc. and Intafact Beverages Ltd. (a subsidiary of AB In Bev). He is the chairman of the Anambra state traditional rulers council and chancellor of Kogi State University and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He was educated at Stanford and Columbia universities in the U.S.A and also attended the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru. He was appointed to the board of Unilever Nigeria Plc. in March 2003 and is currently the chairman of that board.”

Achebe replaces Sunday Akintoye Omole who recently stepped down as chairman of the board following the merger of the three Companies.

Omole will however remain on the board as a non-executive director along with Gbenga Awomolo.

The brewing company in a regulatory filing with the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Tuesday also informed the investing public and its esteemed shareholders that the appointment took place at the directors board meeting of 11 June, 2018 as well as other corporate changes to the company.

Following shareholders ratification and approval at the company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held 30 May, 2018, the new board of International Breweries Plc., includes, Annabelle Degroot as the Managing Director, Zuber Momoniat as the Finance Director, while Peter Nwokike Anugwu, Michael Onochie Ajukwu and Abiye Tobi West were appointed as non-executive directors. Also appointed as non-executive directors are Phillip Redman, Michael Daramola, and Godwin Oche. The statement signed by Muyiwa Ayojimi, the company secretary/general counsel also noted changes to the company’s registered address, which was previously Lawrence Omole Way, Ilesa-Osun State and now 22/36 Glover Road, Ikoyi-Lagos.
