go and do my assignment my friend stop being paranoid. FDI my foot. Does china know what is fdi, the would build the solar plant with their engineers and slave your engineers. Then come back later and tell you that the investment was actual a loan to be paid back. Are they not building the plant with their money or they are now father christmas.
You guys are acting unnecessarily paranoid. Lets even assume in the worst case scenario that they are building the solar plant with loan and not a foreign direct investment, and so what? Is the supposed plant not going to be built in the state?? A plant that will employ citizens of the state and pay tax to the state government is what you guys are condemning yet Buhari is busy borrowing billions of dollars to pay salaries annually, I mean SALARY!!!
Borrowing money is not completely wrong especially when it is used for capital projects that would generate money when completed but borrowing money to finance recurrent expenditure as Buhari is doing is evil and wicked, and that is what you all should be raising alarm on!!
This is a welcome development (even if its through a loan facility) at best, the state will pay it off in due time while at worst, if it isn't capable of doing so, the Chinese partners would take control of it, so, heads or tail, the company will still be in Ebonyi, and would continue to contribute to the economy.

the problem with you is that you think short term and not long term. I gave you an assignment but you refused to do it. Study the trade relation between china and africa. Go to youtube and watch analysis. Infact two countries in africa and now in regret to the point that the opposition are using to score political points. If not for oil by now the imperialists from the east would have taken over. Anyway enjoy but when the chicken comes home to roost I would remind you of this thread.

Believe this man at your own peril.
This Umahi ll put Ebonyi state up for sell one day.
He promised revitalizing moribond Nigercem, since May 2015 to date, nothing has changed there.

He promised the reticulation of water to the smallest state capital- Abakaliki, till date no drop of water from public supply.

He took OBJ to waste to wealth plant, where did old man danced in amazement, till today no single truck load waste has entered there let alone bringin wealth.

The solid mineral sector which the state is known to have is in shambles. Over taxation has made many local and foreign investor to soft pedal.

The only promise he made and partly kept is the building of fly-overs which are only used my tipper driver and of course a federal government project.

If, God forbid this man wins 2nd term, Ebonyians will be in soup.

Who are you giving assignment?
FYI, I know all about Sino-African diplomatic relations especially in the area of loans and financing. What happened in Zambia concerning the Chinese take-over of their national asset, their power utility company (their own version of PHCN). Similar incident happened in Colombo, where the Chinese government seized one of the major seaports in Sri Lanka.
I'm not oblivious of the risk involved in taking Chinese loans but my point is that your paranoia should be directed to Buhari and his government that continues to borrow billions of dollars from China and other sources JUST TO PAY SALARIES!! WHO DOES THAT?? Nigeria's capacity to pay back those monies that were borrowed to pay salaries is simply not there, so you should direct your anger to Buhari who is selling Nigeria to China.

This is how you will build Biafra? Defaulted loans so what? LOL. Please go and take a look at what China is doing in other countries. This is part of a bigger picture where they take over land and assets with defaulted loans, part of the trade route their building. This is almost the same as what the European colonialists did and there were people like you then who were also giving them land and saying so what.

Ebonyi signs $4m solar-system production agreement with Chinese coy

The Ebonyi government on Monday signed a four million dollars solar system production agreement with the Foshan Sunchees Energy Company of China.

Gov. David Umahi, represented by his Deputy, Dr Kelechi Igwe said in Abakaliki that the agreement included the establishment of a solar power factory in the state.

The governor said that the occasion marked the realisation of the state government’s vision and aspiration toward industrialising the state.

“Our vision is to make Ebonyi the leading industrialised state in the country as it is the first time in the country that a government is aiming at energising the entire local government areas of a state.

“The 13 LGA Chairmen of the state have appended their signatures in support of the project and we assure our citizens that we are not purchasing energy from China,” he said.

Umahi said that the agreement was a product of his economic trip to China, saying “the company is reputed globally in solar power manufacturing and distribution.

“It will establish a factory to manufacture solar panels in the state and subsequently make Ebonyi, a leading manufacturer, distributor and marketer of solar panels in the country.

“We are hopeful that in the future, the state will be exporting solar energy beyond Africa,” he said.

He pledged that the government would abide with the terms of the agreement and demonstrate a good maintenance culture.

“The problem of poor execution and maintenance of projects experienced by most governments in the country is due to lack of due diligence in supervision and maintenance.

“The situation is however different with Ebonyi as we will monitor, supervise your work and not rest until you execute all you stipulated in the agreement.

“We are eagerly waiting for you to mount the first solar panel factory in the state as this would make our industrial dream come true,” he said.

Umahi appreciated the local government chairmen for their diligence and partnership in the project, noting that it would be one of the legacies they would leave behind as council chairmen.

Mr Jack Chen, the leader of the Chinese team thanked the state government for its reception and belief in the project, pledging to abide by all the terms of the agreement.

“We are happy to be in partnership and sign this agreement with Ebonyi government.

“We know the state’s logo to be the ‘Salt of the Nation’ but we hope that in the future, it will be Power of the Nation,” he said.

You don't need to make reckless assumptions when there is a track record.

America has more debt now than the entire Africa would have in 50yrs. No contract can be 100% written into the project, there would always be something for kickback factored in. We need development in Nigeria so that generations unborn would have a life.

If you have never visited Ebonyi state, pls do so and see for yourself
So you are comparing America with Nigeria, wherr impunity is the order of the day? Interesting! Tell me there is corruption in both worlds, yes! But lemme ask you in “Nigeria Airways” broadday robbery would have happened in America and the president keeps mum? No one querried, no one sacked, no one penalized, everyone moves on like its nothing, but billions on Naira have been sunken? Just an example o.

I however admire the hope that this government gives you, false nonetheless.
