COUPLE SELL THEIR ONE-WEEK OLD BABY FOR N200,000 TO RENT AN APARTMENTA couple, identified as Richard and Chidimma Benson, is in police custody for allegedly selling their one-week-old baby boy for the sum of N200,000 to rent an apartment in the city. The couple who hail from Isiala-Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State confessed that the hard times they were facing pushed them to that decision.

Chidinma, the wife said: “I have given birth to four children, one is late. I have two now. So, when I became pregnant I told my husband that we would sell the baby and use the money to relocate from my village to township to start a better life. She also said that the husband didn’t want to agree but she had to force him to do.

Flood: 14-seater Bus Plunges into River, 8 Passengers Rescued in Rivers
Eight passengers have been rescued from a 14-seater Hiace bus that plunged into a river in the Okogbe-Mbiama end of the East-West Road in the Ahoada West LGA of Rivers State.

It was reported that the driver was out of control and that was why the bus skidded off a flooded bridge and then landed into the river. Divers are still searching for more people as the bus has been taken to the Police Station.

WOMAN KIDNAPS KIDS OF FAMILY FRIEND IN ENUGU
A lady, called Ifeoma, is on the run after kidnapping the two kids belonging to Mr and Mrs Anthony Onyedika, in Akwuke village, Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The missing children names are, Chisom, 4, and Chidindu, 2. Information was gathered that Ifeoma, a family friend of the Onyedikas, took the children without their parents’ consent at their residence on October 8, 2018.

Her whereabouts have remained unknown ever since. The mother of the missing children explained that Ifeoma was with her kids when she went to the backyard to ease herself. However, by the time she came back, she couldn’t find her kids or Ifeoma.

Power Bike Rider Crushed to Death by BRT Bus in Ikorodu

A power bike rider, whose identity is still unknown, was on Wednesday killed by a BRT vehicle, at the Agric area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.

The incident happened in the dedicated BRT lane. It was revealed that the rider, in a bid not to hit a crossing pedestrian, swerved into the path of the BRT bus. He didn’t notice the oncoming bus and thus, both he and the passenger were hit by the bus.

According to an eyewitness, “the BRT bus which was also on motion ran into them.

LAUTECH STUDENTS PROTEST TUITION FEES INCREASE
Students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) today (Tuesday, October 16, 2018), staged a protest simultaneously in Ogbomoso and Osogbo against a new regime of tuition fees announced by the management of the institution.
According to a copy of the memo addressed to students on Monday announcing the new fees, indigenous students from the owner states of Oyo and Osun will now pay N200,000; while non-indigenes will pay N250,000.
The memo, entitled ‘Notice to All Students on Payment of New Tuition Fees with Effect from 2018/2019 Academic Session’ was signed by the registrar of the institution, Mr J. A. Agboola.
