Nobody who has commented so far has touched on what should really be the main concern here: who is going to maintain this new airport now that it's finished, and where will the money come from to do so? Since the early 1970s Nigeria has never fallen short when it comes to commissioning shiny new buildings, but keeping them well-managed and maintained is another matter: can anyone point to a single federal facility which has been kept at the same level of operation at which it was launched? Scratch that, can one even point to a single federal road which has gone without potholes and long stretches of neglect? How can a federal government which can't keep even basic roads in good condition be expected to do any better with airports? The only long term solution for Nigeria's airports is to simply take the government out of their operation entirely, and sell them off to international investors who have the means and experience to run them properly. Private investors who have put hundreds of millions of their own $US into a facility won't need any special begging and prodding to keep them at 100% operating capacity. 9 Likes |

magicminister: I disagree. Infrastructures like this are important for FDIs into the SE and SS. Airports have to be world standard everywhere in the world. In London alone, there are up to 5 major airports. That’s not to say you are wrong abt the roads - Buh the current structure is too bad. Roads should be the responsibilities of local governments. Citizens shouldn’t expect federal governments to build their local roads for them. 1 Like |

BedLam:Lol. You need to go and reset your brain to factory default because your brain has been brainwashed. He was already VP then it under Yaradua and he had all the time in the world and we made so much money from crude oil sales during his period. There is no excuse except we believe that they were just there to start projects and loot the remaining funds for such projects 3 Likes |

PHILipu1:Aren't you a bastard ? He was a VP. What significant role has VPs played in this country? Made so much money when this project was birthed on a loan? Your only anthem is looting and it is ongoing and even worse with the present day Nigeria. But your type is the partisan chief who believe a man that couldn't build a classroom for his village or state will rescue you and your family from decadence. When was the last time you we heard of minister of transport/aviation? What's his profession? That's doesn't matter to you because you also studied engineering but working in a bank now. Go and continue with your petty life. I doubt people like you have anything meaningful going in your lives. |
