Pretense is the hallmark of insincerity. I recall it was the dumbass Canadian prime minister who told the entire world that Canada is open to all immigrants when Donald Trump announced stricter than usual immigration procedure in USA. It is unfortunate that Africans still fall for dopy antics of colonialists such as the Canadian prime minister.

So Canada too nah colonialist ehn? Everybody be trying so hard to sound smart

I am still trying to understand your point of view viz-a-viz of the realistic situation Nigerians have found themselves in. So are you telling me if there is an opportunity for immigration, people shouldn't take advantage of it? How is it an abuse if an opportunity is open to a multitude who are ready to use it??

Follow the due process and laid down procedures of whichever target destination country concerning immigration - and migrate legally.

If anyone tries to abuse the process thinking s/he's smart by migrating illegally, the Canadian example in this report will be supported by rational people.

I guess with the intellect you displayed, it will not surprise anybody that you cannot recognize a colonialist under your nose. There are always lead actors and supporting casts in any movie.

As a sociologist, there are a lot of issues here: first of, the majority of such asylum seekers have experienced trends, prior to the PMB/APC era, assylum seekers to Canada were majorly blacks from the Caribbean. These include Jamaicans, Guyanese, etc. Nigerians were not as much. However with the introduction of APC the influx of Nigerians steeped from 2 out of 10 blacks to 7 out of 10. This begs the question why the increase in Nigerians. This is attributed to 2 major things: Word of Mouth and Economic downturn. In the case of the former, those who had successfully gone through the route, started to spread the news, devising founded and unfounded ways to work the process. For the latter, that is the Economic downturn, the Nigerian human condition, while not directly caused by PMB or GEJ, one cannot but conclude that, it continues to deteriorate with each successive Government / President and their media hyped mantra of CHANGE! The economic situation in the country is now so bad that the pitbull of economic downturn, that is poverty (the absence of the material and immaterial virtues critical to progressive human development) is visibly evident. For instance, yesterday on this platform, a driver fought another human being in a flooded man sized hole over A CAR SCRATCH;

2.) A dancing politician perhaps emboldened by a President who has no tangible evidence of the minimum qualifications to be President, comes from nowhere, armed with only his dancing shoes becomes a senator and aspires to be Governor with no background of experience in personal leadership ( i mean, how can anyone finish high school with such a result).

3.) Yahoo and yahoo plus on the increase (some eating feces to get rich);

4.) Full grown men sexually defiling children on a regular basis,

5.) Ritual killings and practices grows steadily;

6.) Inflation and incessant hiking of prices,
7.) A surge of herdsmen armed with semi automatics who value the life of their cows more than the lives of human beings;
8.) The misappropriation of Power by Government and eve those with thread like connection to someone in power.

The problem with Nigeria is in the fact that we all have no idea of decent living. We have become so oppressed internally that we know not how to live any other way. We cannot Live and let others live too. The average Nigerian truly DOES NOT GIVE A FLYING EFF what happens to his Neighbour. As long as the neighbor is not getting in the way of his personal progress, then all is good.

Now, a lot of respondents here who assumed majority are all Nigerians, and are quick to wail deportation. If Nigeria has not improved with the absence of these assylum seekers, what makes you think things will get better when they are repatriated?

Thirdly and perhaps fodder for thought is: a covertly racist country (Yes, Canada as with Nigeria, USA, etc are full of racist bigots) keeps its borders open, allows both desirables and undesirables in, gives them work(in order to be taxed)provides them an opportunity to integrate (via jobs their people cannot and will not do), granting them access to credit cards & material accumulation, free education for children etc will now, after settling such assylum seekers down, deport them? The answer is no. At the very worst, the wheat would be seperated from the chaff, the wheat (desirable ones) ploughed back into the system and the chaff returned to where they came from as requested by the "pro-deport" activists here on NL

It isn't a good thing to get into another man's country illegally. Meanwhile, I wonder how the Nigerians amongst them will feel been deported from heaven to hell.

You didn't understand the news. Trudeau says Canada is open to all in reference to Trump banning specific countries.
Being open to all is not an invitation to all.
Mind you, Africans didn't fall for anything, there are desperate people who would do anything to leave Africa
whether they are welcome or not.

Do you know the number of people who have taken this illegal opportunity and successfully integrated into same country over the years? It was an opportunity and like every opportunity in life, its expiry is in sight. The socio political situation in Africa will always fuel this type of bad scenario.

My dear, people will always misinterpret things to suit their selfish purpose.

Canada has d most liberal immigration process in the world, yet Nigerians from the usa decided to abuse the opportunity.
They should face the music.
I wont support illegality in any way, form or shape. I wonder why some set of people find it so hard to do the right thing. This is the same mindset destroying Nigeria. When you dare to be different , they begin to call you names.
Pls lets do the right thing always.

Btw, Nigerians abroad, lets vote 'em out

Nigerian have spoilt another channel for genuine asylum seekers ...Nigerians are becoming a plague sha

The genuine assylum seekers from nigeria cant even afford three square meals not to talk of buying flight tickets and coming to declare asylum.
You hear all sorts of reasons and i'm like truly some people have lost their conscience.
Its a pity most student visas and trv's are being refused due to present situation.

Did they write only Nigerians (if at all there's a Nigerian in that list) as the asylum seekers in what you just read, we just like denigrating and painting ourselves in bad light to others.

Change your mindset!

No one is painting themselves in bad light. Deed speaks-majority of illegal immigrants to Canada this year were Nigerians with valid usa visas.

Deport all of them. Don't spare anyone. They are wicked and shortsighted ingrates.
Nigerians can never ever change in attitude and behavior. They care less how their actions negatively affect other Nigerians who follow due process. They should not only deport them, they should be properly profiled and their relations also blacklisted from ever entering their country. If these hard measures are not taken, nigerians will continue to abuse and bastardize their system.
Nigeria is not working today because Nigerians themselves bastardized the system but are quick to blame their politicians alone.
Send them back!
See how genuine students are denied at U.S embassy and how genuine applicants are turned down by Canada because of all the idiots who abused their visas?
Deport them all!

I hear that the embassy has been refusing so so many applications undecided

I insist, even at that, you don't wash your dirty linen in public. The report didn't state the national involved this time, why do we have to conclude it's majorly Nigerians?

It is well known that most of the recent illegal immigrants in Canada are Nigerians. See this link https://globalnews.ca/news/4177786/migrants-nigeria-us-travel-visas/

Do you think that by dodging the obvious you are doing Nigeria any favors?

I understand perfectly but one question, don't they have corruption cases or other vices in US or western nations as the case maybe but, you don't see them portraying it to the public but rather they'll show you the glittering side of themselves.
