A former Aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, on Saturday said the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai insulted Christians in the state by picking a Muslim as his running mate for 2019 election.

Governor El-Rufai, a Muslim, had on Friday announced that he will be running for second term with Hadiza Balarabe, another Muslim.

However, the former minister described El-Rufai’s action as divisive and insulting.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain explained that the Governor’s action was wrong because 50 per cent of people in the state are Christians.

In a tweet, Fani-Kayode wrote: “It is wrong, divisive, dangerous, provocative and insulting for Nasir El Rufai to field a Muslim/Muslim ticket in the governorship election in a state like Kaduna in which 50% of the people are Christian and in which thousands of Christians were butchered over the last 3 years.”

See , there is a proverb that says " when a people do not cry out against injustice , then they should be ready to suffer in silence ". Benue is a predominantly Christian state, all the states where you would see a Christian/Christian combo are predominantly Christian, what FFK is saying here is that kaduna is a secular state, hence should have it's religious demography represented as such in the government.
